Thread: Finfolk's New Tails!

Meerine your tail is gorgeous! Teal is also my favorite color out of all the mythic tails. And I must say it looks like a perfect fit! It doesn't seem to sit low to me at all!

My measurements and height are very similar to yours, so now I know I should also buy an S when I am ready to order.

looks gorgeous! mine has been delivered and i tried it on, i ordered a large and it does fit a little loose on me! hoping this can be amended somehow, if so, ill gain extra scales if i happen to lose any! may attempt to take it to a natural spring near me later today and see if i can swim in it

:o it's so pretty on you Emeraldina! And don't worry about your top , it's fine ahah. ;3
Im also curious as to how hard it is to hold the fluke into the air. I know silicone is heavy ^-^
I won't be investing in any type of silicone tail anytime soon , I just have a habit of consuming information XD

(how tonk do my arms look lol?!!)
and today my abs and arms ache, i was posing in this shoot for about 20 minutes? so that should give you an idea on the weight. The fluke is barely medium-heavy id say. although i do not have a silicone fluke to compare. I can lift the fluke up and flap about, lift my legs up straight etc. however I have very strong legs.

(😂 oh Lord , "tonk" got me )

Ah , probably still a bit heavy for me :P . my calves are fairly strong (perks of walking on your tip toes for your whole life lol) , but other than that I think a silicone fluke won't be *too* bad ;3
Still going to exercise more though , so I can be prepared for the day I do order a silicone tail!

One of my favorite cosplayers, Elizabeth Rage just got herself one of these tails! She put an unboxing on her instagram story: https://www.instagram.com/elizabethrage/

Went to my first mermaid class today, took my mythic tail with me and the kids loved it. Seeing their faces light up was magical! The tail is big on me, anyone got any advice on how to alter it to fit? whats the best way to go about it etc, any tips/advice would be great

so as the hours past i am increasingly becoming so very very exhausted. i actually feel unwell with the exhaustion. i have an extreme migraine and i feel so drowsy. I swam in the tail for a good three hours today.

do you mers think this tail is too much for me? I am thinking, with the weight of the saturated neoprene, plus all of those scales, plus the weight of the fluke, plus the drag of the additional fins, plus all of me being a whole 5ft2 = the tail is too much for me? I must say I am not fighting back the urge to hop in the water with it again given how exhausted I am feeling. I have a mahina merfin and have been thinking making a tail out of that would be ideal. The mono fin is exceptionally loose on my feet too, my feet are red raw.

Please give me advice mers, if I am being silly or if I am making sense ?

Red-Raw feet isn't good. I can't really say about the tail, but three hours is no quick swim. Were you actually Swimming the whole time, or both swimming and just relaxing in the water? If the former, I would say you're just quite naturally worn out.

Mermaid Bubu's tail was too big on her and she said she improvised in making it smaller and using the extra scales to make a top (https://www.instagram.com/p/BPGGyhbj...rmaid_bubu)--I sent her a DM last week to inquire as to how she did it, but I haven't heard back yet. If I do, I will let you know!

As for your feet, I've been there. I ended up investing in a pair of Finis Skin socks (which are thin and feel like bathing suit material). They are excellent by not only preventing blisters, but helping your feet to slide into the monofin easier--I wear them even if I am just wearing a tail on land. For a heavier/larger foot pocket monofin, you may want to get a pair of flipper socks which are thicker and made of neoprene. I purchased a pair of Pod aqua socks to use with my Mahina merfin--the first time I wore my Merfin, I was wearing the Finis skin socks and it not only gave me blisters, but also broke one of my toenails! Since wearing the thicker neoprene flipper socks, I haven't had any blisters or broken toenails.

Now for a Mythic Tail note: be very, VERY careful sitting in/shifting in it! My husband and I did a mini photo-shoot just for fun yesterday in our dining room. We had placed two yoga mats down and a sheet over-top the tiled floor. I sat up slowly to shift positions and I heard a crunch! It was one of the scales near the zipper. Doh! I am a bit apprehensive to take it to the pool now, even with a yoga mat and a towel. Does anyone have any advice?

(We had such a fun time taking pictures)!

No scales came off when i swam in mine. No crunching or breaking either. I used a beach towel by the side of the pool and hoisted myself into the water. Did the scale fall off? Did it crack but its still hanging on? There is glue in places on my tail and on the scales, so my next port of call would be to use some good glue and fix the broken scale? Perhaps get in touch with the twins and see what they think. These tails are so problematic tbh >.<

Hiya Emeraldina, thank you for your reply! I think it was just bad timing that when I wet from lying to sitting a scale must've been at the wrong angle and I crunched it under the bony part when I sat up. My buttock is even quite sore in that exact spot! Oh, well...just part of the scale cracked off and the silver lining is that it is still being held in place by one "button hole" and the support of surrounding scales. I have tried E6000 glue but unfortunately that didn't work. I was googling and it looks like there are a couple of glues you can use for resin, but I will have to attempt that when we're home! I finished packing at 6:30 this morning and we are off to the airport! I am just thrilled that my tail fit in my suitcase with room to spare for clothes :-) I will see how it holds up with some beach photos and ocean swimming and let you know--we've packed my yoga mat and two beach towels, so we should be good!

I'm in pretty great shape (I rock climb, do ballet, and frequent hikes and cardio regularly) and when I'm swimming continuously for half an hour with or without a fin, I'm exhausted. Swimming is a KILLER workout and a tail just adds to it. Take a rest, and next time you're out there swim for 20 minute chunks and take some breaks in between. I mean, 20 minute breaks where you're just being casual or floating. Work up to 3 hours of continuous swimming. That's hard core!
