    What cameras are out there?

I want to create an underwater camera listing like I have done with underwater photographers. Problem is I have a limited knowledge of what cameras are water friendly. If you know of an underwater camera & especially if you have experience with one could you post here so I can start assembling & researching them to create a reference thread.

    I have a sony exmior DSC-tx5

It's an amazing little point and shoot, takes excellent quality photos, panoramic, has an underwater mode though I find regular mode does better photos underwater, can handle salt and fresh water, and it's good for 10ft but I've used it in 12. Great sound quality too

GoPros are awesome! A lot of sports videos (surf, snowboarding, mountian biking, ect) are done with them. There are different models for different needs, and they come with a variety of mounts. Even the military has mount bases built onto some helmets so they can throw on the camera on there and take video for evidence reasons. They can shoot both HD video and stills! Derek used one to take my underwater promo video and this still shot. They're about $300. I hope to own one myself some time in the future

I have to second Iona on the GoPro. I believe Derek has the Hero2 if I remember right? I have the first edition Hero, and I LOVE it! I paid just under $200.00 for mine at my friends surf shop, and now you can buy them for $129.99 (but you don't get as many mounts)!! Go here for more info about the price, the camera, and the difference betweem the Hero and Hero2 http://gopro.com/cameras/hd-hero-naked-camera/. There are also some fantastic video clips to show you just how amazing this thing is underwater. The only bad thing about taking it to more depth is there's no flash...but that's what spot light are for right!?

If you want to try and win a free GoPro go to their Facebook page. They do a daily drawing called "everything we make", so one lucky fan literlly wins EVERYTHING they make every day! It's awesome!

Ok, that's my GoPro rant...sorry to duplicate someone else' suggestion, but I just love my camera and had to throw in my two cents!

U have a Nikon Coolpix S2600 with a Nimar Underwater Housing NIS2600. It's safe till 165ft/60m and there can be a flashlight mounted to it. My mermaid pictures were made with it. Plus side is, you can have a small camera out of the water. Down side, you can hardly see the display when the sun is fully shining in it.

A photographer friend of mine uses the Panasonic Lumix waterproof one and said it works great.
