I did the same thing and keep coming back for inspiration. Like you, my first tail will be fabric...fabric is ordered already and I am super excited. I too get tail envy seeing all of these amazing silicone works of art, but this thread has shown me unbelievable ideas for fabric tails! It's completely inspiring! A fabric tail doesn't have to mean your tail will be "basic"

Ya know, you're right! Im thinking about somehow making my fabric tail less plain... extra fins? Scales? paint? I want to experiment with like different fabric paints... maybe if i cover the fabric with shiny, thick paint to make it look scaly? idk... Good luck with your tail making! I'm excited for you!

I'm glad you like it Tony. I'm sincerely sorry for the few flaws it ended up having. I think if I had the actual monofion, or even just a cutout of the shape, that it would have fit better length-wise. I had made the center point on the fluke to be about 3" off the end of the monofin. I'll make sure I get both Rapid and Wave ordered before too long so I can make cardboard cutouts of the shapes

I just LOVE looking at everyone's tails! They are all so beautiful. I can't wait until I get my tail from Fish Butts...I ordered it just a few days ago! It will be my first tail I'm going to cover it with sequins. I'll be sure to share pictures once it's finished!

My first tail. a long time ago on this thread lol. was fabric I see nothing wrong in making a fabric tail first (just to be sure your going to keep on keeping on ya know)
