Ok, so I've had this on my mind for a while, and I need to get it out there. I HATE how people think that men are the superior sex. I just HATE IT. I hate how people say that "God" is a man. WHY SHOULD IT BE A MAN? Why not a woman? Where did people get the idea that men should rule in the first place? I mean, sure, they can be naturally physically stronger than women, but, now I'm not saying that men are stupid or anything, but women can be mentally stronger than men most of the time. Not all men, but most think that women are mentally weaker because women can be very emotional. But that does NOT make us weaker! I also hate how there are NO female religious leaders at all! So far, they have ALL been men! and why hasn't there been a female president in America yet? I just don't get it! I swear, when I turn 35, I am running for president and no one can talk me out of it! HA! I would also LOVE to see women stand up to men one day. We are strong and powerful and we should show those men who think that they rule who's boss!

Ok for me, the biggest would be about me being Pagan and not christian.
I honestly can not stand people who think they have the right to throw their religious views down my throat, i do not do that to them and i should be given the same respect. I am NOT evil, i do NOT worship "the devil" and why, well because the devil is a christian belief, Pagans do not believe in that, we are a nature loving belief and if conserving mother earth is evil then yeah i guess i am!!!

Then there is the fact i am a natural blonde, for some reason it is like every god damn person seems to think that i have yet to hear every blonde joke, seriously THEY ARE OLD, i do not bleach my hair so thus my brain cells are not dead.
I am intelligent and i hate being degraded because some idiot bimbo girls decide to dye their hair blonde and act like brainless idiots, besides look at the most intelligent races in the world, the Norwegians and they are blonde !!!

I don't think its about hate as much as it is about religion. Personally, I feel like if the LGBTQ community is against your religion, fine. You don't have to offer your services, you don't have to accept them into your church, etc. Because that is your personal belief and it is your place of worship and sanctuary. There are many other churches however that freely accept the LGBTQ community, and all you have to do is keep your eye out for them. I personally think that if it is a religious place, that the religion should be respected, as it is not always a matter of hate in the community. I think all that Miss Gillard is trying to do is protect those people in a way. Discrimination in any other place however, is wrong in my opinion.

Anyways.
So as you may know, I was recently granted permission to use one of the pools at my local hotel to practice swimming in my mermaid tail. Well yesterday I was there and I was supposed to meet my friend there who was going to be my spotter/swim partner. I had told the general manager of the hotel that I would not swim if I didn't have an assistant with me. So anyways, I get to the hotel when the pool is empty. I get in the water and put my tail on and all that jazz. At this point I'm actually waiting for a journalist from the local newspaper to show up and interview me and take pictures for the paper. I figured I could swim while she was there even if my friend wasn't with me because she needed pictures and I'm the only one in the pool, so if I needed help, I would obviously have someone's attention at all times. Interview went great.

At this time there is actually a hockey team from Michigan or something in the lobby of the hotel. Around 20 kids and 50 adults were staying here.

So here I am with the pool to myself until 4, when suddenly a girl from the hockey team comes to check out the pool and she sees me splashing around on the stairs in the shallow end. Next thing I know, all 20 kids are swarming me, asking questions, etc. They're teenagers, so I don't try to fool them. I told them where I got my tail and all that jazz.

Fast forward to about a half hour later. The hockey team parents all come in with food and drinks and whatnot for some sort of poolside party thing they were going to keep busy with while the kids swam. This is where it gets confusing. The teenagers from earlier weren't in the pool area. Instead I'm being swarmed by ten year olds, who are at that stage where they experiment with trying to be popular, snobby, all that stupid jazz. [Note my assistant/friend still hadn't shown up, I've been at the pool for about an hour and a half now.]

Anyways, these kids were BRUTAL. They were all girls, again, around 10 or 11 years old. They don't believe in mermaids anymore. So instead of me entertaining the kids by being a mermaid, I spent the next two hours trying to get away from them. They were shouting at me, chanting "fake fake fake," calling me a liar, poking, prodding, and ripping at my tail, and at one point, five of these girls had grabbed my fluke up near the ankles and were trying to pull my tail off of me. If I hadn't been holding onto the railing, they would have dragged me into the deep end of the pool. I was still wearing the shell belt Raven had made for me as I hadn't gotten a chance to take it off after the photos hoot with the news journalist. The girls ripped ALL the shells off my belt and ran off with them, hiding them in the chaos of the party going on with the parents. I did my best to be persistent, to stay in character, telling the girls that I was real and that if they didn't believe in me, fine. At one point, I had to snap at a girl because she came right up to my face and was acting a bitch, wagging her finger at me, rolling her eyes, and calling me names, saying her mom told her that mermaids aren't real. I looked her dead in the eyes and said she was being very rude and she needed to leave me alone. I was not in the mood to deal with her after she was one of the girls who contributed to ripping apart my shell belt.

This whole time, I was trying to figure out how I'm possibly going to get out of the pool area without taking my tail off. Much to my dismay, there is no ramp from the pool area to the lobby, so my mermaid wagon isn't an option. My dad was my next thought as maybe he could carry me out, but my tail gets waterlogged and doesn't drain very easily, so along with 140 pounds of me, and a 20 pound tail, there's also like 10 pounds of water that gets stuck in the foot area of my tail. Way too much for him to carry. He threw out his back a few years ago and he's 65 years old so he can't even pick me up without my tail on. I ended up scooting myself across the deck to the shower area where my dad held up a towel to guard me from prying eyes. I quickly got changed and on my way out, I heard all the girls start screaming again, "SEE I TOLD YOU SHE WAS FAKE, SHE'S A LIAR MERMAIDS DON'T EXIST" blah blah blah. I felt like I was being laughed out of the room. I didn't even make it out of the hotel before I burst into tears. Even the employees at the front desk sympathized with me and said how horrible the kids staying at their hotel can be, because it's a very high end hotel and all the spoiled kids with rich parents stay there.

Anyways, just needed to get that off my chest. I feel like if I had just had an assistant, it would have gone much better. Perhaps the kids wouldn't have targeted me so much if I hadn't been alone. And maybe my assistant could have been strong enough to haul me out of the pool area with my tail on. I don't know. But I've posted an ad on craigslist looking for a volunteer assistant to come with me whenever I need to swim. Idk if anyone will take me up on the offer, but they will get paid if they assist me during paid gigs. We'll see.

YES when i found out that she is giving churches full right to discriminate i was VERY pissed, ALOT of my best friends are LGBT not to mention my fiance's younger brother and my younger brother. They already see so much hate and i am over religious people telling them how dirty, unnatural and wrong they are, and now Gillard has given them protection to keep doing this, i find that disgusting. Besides how can it be "unnatural" when there are gays in the animal world.....i find that to be something that people refuse to comprehend.

Personally, I see all this injustice occuring, and instead of directing hatred, I put even more positive energy into supporting LGBT and ally causes.

That said, given all this happening, I am grateful that I live in a country where all the main squabbling is about this, and the country is not being bombed into rubble. At the present, LGBT, women, elderly, youth, men, disabled, multi-racial are all tolerated on a social level as a whole. We just need some fine tuning

I didn't want to hurt them or anything but I wanted to make it almost impossible for them to hold on to it so I would flop it around furiously so they couldn't get a grip on it.

While I was walking out of the pool area, I had a thought burning in my mind, I hope to death that every last one of those kids lays awake at night with the guilt of how badly they treated me. And maybe one day when they've had enough of their guilt ridden insomnia, they'll come back and apologize for what they did. It'll probably never happen, but a mer can hope.

Thank you, thank you oh so much for making me work valentine's night. First you don't believe I have a doctors appointment then second you put me on night shift KNOWING I am the only person on staff who has a long term partner. I had to give up my anniversary because you needed me so bad.

Oh and if I want to spend 3,000 on a mermaid tail, it is my choice. One of my husband's friend's wife spends hundreds on tanning and clothes that she only wears once. Hey different strokes, different folks but laughing at me over what I choose is childish.

Oh i understand that one, i always have people tell me that what i choose to spend my money on is stupid (like my $200 on crystals, as i use them for everything with their energies) yet i know people who spend alot more on a pair of shoes that are worn once, and somehow their buy is seen as "acceptable" yet mine is "outrageous"

I was surprised I was able to keep my temper with the kids so well. When it comes to snotty little self entitled shits like them, I usually snap very quickly, but I was able to keep my cool right up until I basically yelled at the ballsy girl who was wagging her finger and being sarcastic at me with a MAJOR attitude problem. I'm glad my fluke weighed too much for me to pull it out of the water, otherwise she would have gotten a swift blow to the head. [Disclaimer: I don't condone beating children but I certainly DO condone knocking them off their pedestal when they get out of line, even if it takes a little whack every now and then. Spanking is healthy.]

hahaha while reading what happened to you all i pictured was hitting them over the head with your fluke, even if it meant taking it off to get a better hold of it (it was quite comical what was going through my mind almost cartoonish) but knowing my extremely sarcastic nature (i can be an utter angel but get on my bad side and your nightmares are more friendly) i would most likley of battered my eyelashes tilted my head to the side, smiles and "overly nicely" said "well i guess were ALL cant be a beautiful mermaid, some of us are just PLAIN humans, oh well must suck to be so jealous, dont worry darling i am SURE you are beautiful in your own way"
