Phoenix I am really looking forward to seeing your photos when you get it!
Sorry for the spam, I posted this on the 'take care-tails' tread and emailed to Raven.
PLEASE HELP
I've used my tail 4 times now (always being really careful) and now on the waist part the silicone is getting appart from the neoprene here and there… Is there any way I can fix it? (I don't know If the sell Dragonskin silicone over here)
and my other question is : how do I let my tail dry properly? The neoprene inside Is still wet after letting the tail dry for 2 nights in a row.
My grandfather is making me a tail stand so I could set the tail upside down.
But I'm also worried for getting a mold in my tail from using.
On the other hand I'm really taking good care of my tail. it's my baby <3
The waist can do that if you're stretching it too hard when you roll it down (or if you measured it so tight that the tail has to constantly stretch at the waist when you wear it)- and it can happen with any tail. You should shove a towel up inside the tail to absorb the water from inside. Remember, Silicone tails aren't indestructible. It could be from rubbing up against the pool floor/walls too. I don't know how bad yours is but I find most mermaids get upset over very tiny normal wear and tear that isn't noticeable to anyone else. So maybe pics would help? Cuz I can see right now in one of the photos where you're sitting that the top of the waist has folded down in some parts, and just the constant stretch and folding can do that.
If you put a pool noodle in it, it will stay open and allow it to ventilate. I have a way of drying my tail that works really well and its cheap/ easy to make and doesnt take up much space. I hang my tail up in my closet.

I have one at the back and one at the front, i just can put my finger in it.
Can I fix it with E6000 or should I not do that?
About the tail hanger: My grandfather has a tail stand in the makingBut for now I have to lay my tail in the tub and the neoprene won't dry. I have some plastic bowls inside the tail so it stands open for a bit of ventilating.
And something different: wich type/brand of personal lube is the best for a silicone/neoprene tail? (One I can buy online) I now use baby oil for dry skin, without chemical parts.

Ariel- Raven replied to your emailYou gotta be careful when you put it on. Raven's going to send you the right glue to fix it with when she sends you top. Til then, just be careful when you roll it down and up.
Kalani, great fluke design, super smart! It reminds me of some of the tails from the older movies!

@Phoenix mermaid: I LOVE how the colors of your tail came out!I'm really happy for you <3
I don't have any lube in a spray bottle that's Iona.
I am DYING OF THE ENVY due to the tails in this thread.
I don't have the LUBE in a spray bottle, I have the lube in a squeeze container and a spray bottle full of plain water, and I use them together on my legs. Just to clear up any confusion.
I actually went to a adult store to get my lube since they had a wider selection and a huge tester table. That way I could feel the viscosity and such to make sure the cheapest one wasn't the crappiest one. I ended up not getting the cheapest one, but one a few bucks more since it was the best bang.. er, slip :P.. for my buck. This is what I settled on. The sales associate was actually really helpful and when my husband told her was it was actually for she thought that was the coolest thing :P
I like a personal silicone lube. You can get it from any drug store. The water based lubes are safe but they become sticky after a little bit of time. The silicone seems to keep its slickness. I would be sure to rinse it out really well afterward as the neoprene can absorb and really hold onto those oily fluids.
Silicone lube is okay for latex and neoprene but you should NEVER EVER use it for a silicone tail (which is what this thread is about). It can not only degrade it and make holes in it, but MELT the silicone, turning it gummy and ruining it permanently! From what I understand the reaction can be immediate (depending on the materials in both)- so once it gets on there, there's no going back.
Yes, water based lube becomes sticky relatively fast. This is why I have a spray bottle of plain water that I use in conjunction with the lube. Once it's rewetted it's even slippier than when you originally put it on. Usually I have to give my thighs an extra spritz by the time I get up to them, but it works like a charm.
No silicone lube on silicone toys either lol for that reason.
