Hello! I am thinking about selling my purple tail soon to fund my next tail which will be much more realistic and possibly full silicone if I can afford it. Keep in mind this is my first tail , let alone the first tail I've ever made, so it's got some rough spots.
It is spandex and silicone, although truthfully there is so little silicone it should be classified as "silicone enhanced spandex" lol. I had problems not seeing the fabric pattern if I put too much on so I left it really thin. That being said, some of the scales are coming off but it looks fine underwater (just looks like mer-dandruff when it's dry)
The fluke is entirely custom made too. Full fiberglass and rubber/fabric swim shoes. It give an AWESOME boost to speed.
There is elastic in the waistband, and it has a nifty zipper up the back between the fin.![]()
Super stretchy, pretty awesome especially for a first time mer-maker.
Measurements in INCHES: (it's spandex so pretty forgiving)
waist: 34
Hips: 44 (I got a booty)
mid thigh: 36
Knee: 23
Calves:22
ankles: 15 (a bit snug around ankles because of the silicone.)
waist to hip: 8
waist to mid thigh:13
waist to knee:19
waist to ankle: 34
waist to floor: 36
shoe size: 7-8 women's but my cousin fit them nice and snug and she has like a 9.
The fluke itself is completely covered in silicone and is at its widest 32in and longest 22in.
I heard that a Finis Competitor is only 28" x 23" so that's for comparison.
The whole deal weighs about 10.5 lbs and twice that while wet.
back:
I've taken off the side fins by the fluke because the material didn't move right under water and as you can see they were falling apart. I chose organza because it was pretty..... -.- I was going to replace the fringe along the back and tummy fins with vinyl but I'd rather just start my new tail.
Belly:
Here it is underwater:

It does need some TLC and i'll be more than willing to do that before I ship it if that's what you want
Give me some feed back!![]()
