Thread: B!TC# IT OUT!

  1. #3541
Just came back from my sister in law's baby shower. got an onslaught of questions regarding when i'm having a baby. :|

Yet again, i respond with "no i'm not having any" which they THEN assume "oh well you're young anyway, you'll have one" as if i didn't even consider the option. Seems inappropriate on my side because it's a baby shower but i mean, WTF. I'm so happy for the new mama, and so many of my friends are now proud mothers as well, people i can happily get behind and support when they need. They made the choice to have a child and everyone is ok with it, but one person who decides not to have a child and the world goes mad WHY.
PEOPLE. PLEASE. DON'T PATRONIZE ME FOR WANTING TO BE CHILD-FREE.

my responses within the last 2 weeks has been:
    - i have no maternal instinct or the desire to reproduce. i ovulate sand.
    - the amount of money i save from not putting it towards my child will be put towards a better future for my husband and myself.
    - how come nobody ever asks the man that?
    - it's my uterus i will do what i wish with it.

I know the feeling. Sometimes I want to say, "are you my doctor? No? My husband? Still no?? Then you have no right to ask me about my reproductive/sex life." But instead, I just say, "This is a very personal subject that I really only discuss with my husband or doctor, I'm sure you understand," and walk away.

And you're right, you never hear them asking men when they're going to be fathers.

I ended up telling my husband about it and expressed how irked I was. So he promised me that he was gonna stand by my side and answer for me from now on if anyone asks for babies.

But also I'm goin to add that to my repertoire of things to say.

    Why not add:
    - Have a baby? No thank you. Though I did have one for breakfast and it was delicious.

about the baby thing: i just turned 16 and apparently getting shit for not wanting one. if i was to have a child i rather adopt because i dont think i am compatible with making a healthy baby (teachnicly i am but still). but apparently religion says that i have to have a baby and adoption is only for those who cant. but recently im kinda questioning religion after i figured out why im not allowed to wear tampons. (sorry if its tmi)

My boyfriend is in Valence (Spain) with his school right now. And I don’t like being home alone, especially at night I feel scared that something (bad) might happen and I will be all alone and I won’t be able to do something (or save myself)and he know that and he said he ‘would try and send me a goodnight text every night’.

He did not… Every time I had to text him first before he would respond, usually even 2 hours later… and when I told him on Whatsapp, when we had a rare moment of live contact, and I told him how lonely I felt, the only response he gave me was, ‘You can survive a few days on your own. Let me enjoy this holiday, be happy for me’ and when I asked if it was so difficult to take one minute to step away from the group and “busy” (mostly sitting on a terras with a drink (and girls in sunny summer skirts’ his words in one of the three texts he send me…) program in the evening wish me goodnight, he was like ’we have a busy program planned, and with all the fun we have, I don’t think about texting you goodnight’

I feel neglected and forgotten by the person I care about the most e, and who claims to love me , but at same time, seems to not care about how I feel.

Grrrr. This isn't even my problem this year, but I have to hear about it multiple times a day this week from the other coworkers on my floor. We all teach classes of 100-300 students each. The registrar schedules final exams...for upper level classes full of seniors...ON graduation day. DURING graduation ceremonies. So naturally, graduating seniors petition us to take finals early. Which would be fine, except, where do they take them? The testing center (whose job it is to proctor makeup exams) limits the number of students taking early/late finals to five students per class. So what do you do when you have twenty+ seniors who need accomodating? Well, reserve a room, right? Except the friggin' registrar won't allow anyone to reserve rooms during finals week. So...what exactly are we supposed to do with these graduating seniors, then? Schedule them one at a time to take the exams in our office? No problem, it's only TWO HOURS per student, and clearly we all have ample time on our hands. Stake out a dorm study hall? Tell them, "sorry to you and your family, but you get to miss out on graduation day?" ARRRGH! It doesn't affect my class this year, but it probably will in coming years because the registrar loves to mix up that finals schedule. Our solution is next year either (1) final exam happens the week before final exam week, or (2) no friggin' final, period.

That, and they need bodies to help move out all the lab equipment so summer construction projects can commence. So they emailed professors to help. But only the non-tenured teaching faculty got that email. DURING FINALS WEEK. Because we don't have anything important we're doing this week, right? It's not like I have 120 8-page final exams and 22 10-page papers to grade by Wednesday. *headdesk*

Ahh. That feels better. *zen mode* I do love my job. And my coworkers. 99% of the time. Actually, it's usually students who are driving me batty this time of the year, but I apparently got a good batch this semester...

I am not technically inclined. I only know how to use software not fix computers. I ask my brother who is an IT person, "If something in there (my current pc) needs fixing, can I get the part from my old pc to fix it?" I get this... He tells Mum, "She's either deaf or stupid. See she's not listening to anything I say." Then blabbers on about why I shouldn't need more ram. They way he always talks to me, its like scolding a little kid!! After 5 mins of scolding, I say, "I understand what you mean. I just want to know if my computer can have parts from the other ones. Yes or no, that's all I want to know." I finally, get a no and an awful look, like I'm the most dumbest person and the ugliest thing he stepped on.

Much annoyance! Even his kids have picked up that tone of voice when they talk to me. I'm going to try an experiment. I won't ignore them but I won't talk to them unless they talk to me nicely first.

I wonder if he talks to his clients the same way he talks to me...
