That awkward moment when I'm calmly doing my job at a hotel in Orlando, when the subject of Boynton Beach comes up in discussion with a guest. I mentioned that I was there last year for the Pirate and Mermaid festival last year, and her 7-year-old daughter lost her sh*t over her excitement that there were real mermaids in their city.
They were in supreme disbelief, so I had to show them a picture of me in tail.
Her daughter seemed to die of excitement, and said that she doesn't need to see the mermaids anymore, because she just met one in person. I feel special now.

The awkward part about it is that I normally don't talk about my "other job" at my day job, especially with guests. This was the only time I made an exception.

Update: The family came back, brought the father and grandmother, and the little girl introduced me as the real mermaid to the rest of the family, and begged me to show them the picture I showed her. They all know my (actual) name very well now. The grandmother told me that she is a mermaid in her dreams.
Oh, and they all bought tickets from me, giving me roughly $20 in commission.

So I haven't been on here a while, so I'll share an awkward moment from a few months ago.
I'm sure quite a few of you remember the guy I go to college with who had a photo of me on his door with #datethemermaid right? (if not see previous posts on this thread)
WELL. On Valentine's weekend I get a text from him saying
"Hey I just really wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your crush-gram you put on my door on Valentine's day! Sorry I wasn't there to personally receive it, but it was totally unexpected and really awesome"
... I didn't send a crush-gram.. Some idiot in his dorm pretended to give him one from me as a way to make fun of him..

TAWM when you are on the set of a TV-show as a mermaid (had to pretend to be a candidate at a talent-show as a mermaid) and 1 of the main actors asked if he can take a pic with you together.

That Awkward moment when The client comes to check in on you to make sure you are almost ready to get to the party and your mertender has his lubed up arm in your tail trying to get those darn monofin straps on your heel. Priceless reaction Lmao she took it all in good humor she said
