I posted on my Instagram story this, but I have been bombarded with good news all week! I hit 5K on YouTube, my sister got a great role in a stage show, my week long swimming lessons went well (no irate parents, only ones requesting me again), my supervisor asked me to hrlp with some training which is flattering, Courtney has finished my H2O tail, I heard some Good Updates regarding another tail, a pod member of mine kicked some social anxiety butt, I got a promotion at my second job, my friends announced their wedding date and so we're going wedding dress shopping on Monday, I am hopefully going to be interviewed for a book aaaaand I heard back from a mermaid tail company regarding doing a giveaway with me! Phew! My bank account may be empty but God is good!

In happy-related news for me: My husband helped me cover the remaining balance I needed to order a tail from Purple Mermaid Studios and I am beyond ecstatic about it! I have this regency dress that I was wearing as I frolicked through the woods (I know, it’s probably a stupid idea to wear a floor-length skirt in the forest, but it just feels so magical). ANYWAY this kid walked up to me and asked, “Why are you wearing that?”
All of a sudden, I had this idea. I looked down at myself and said, “Wait, did I get it wrong?” Then I looked at his clothes as if noticing them for the first time and groaned, muttering something like “I can never keep track of these stupid fashion norms; they make time travel way more complicated than it has to be.”
The kid stared at me for a second before his mom called him back to the path. He ran back over and started talking to her. I couldn’t catch all of it, but I definitely heard “Doctor Who” in there.

Tl;dr: I accidentally-on-purpose convinced a kid that I’m a time traveler.

for the last few months I had taken a break from jogging in order to try a few other workouts and recently I have returned, and the thing I am happy about is that according to my time, my first mile is under 9 minutes, that might not sound like much, but it is for me because when I went on my hiatus my first mile was also 9 minutes, so even after having gone a sizeable hiatus I am so happy that somehow my time did not suffer which means I won't have to work down from like 13 or something which I have had to do in the past and I am just really glad!

(oh, also I am using the app 'Zombies, run!' so maybe that's why? because when they say 'run' and I hear the zombie growls I'm like 'FRICK' because I really get into the story and i get scared heh ha x3

im sorry for not seeing this sooner!!! My cups vary for supplies depending on what the customer wants. This one is holographic vinyl. I coat with epoxy resin so it is secure, permentant, and safe. I also do paint, alcohol ink, glitter, and vinyl

I just noticed that I've been on this forum for six years as of this month. Yay! That makes me happy. I remember finding mer.yuku earlier than that, and not joining because I never did get along with Yuku, heh ( I had a lot of problems with the site function on a Halloween yuku forum, so I gave up on it- I was already on another, better Halloween forum, anyway). And it was awhile before I tried finding another mer forum, and I did find a couple, but this was the only one I actually saw as an organized effort, one that covered so much and was for just about everyone in the mer world. I am so glad I found this place!

The best thing you can do is to start writing stuff down and keeping track of things. Depending on what skills you've picked up tail swimming, and making your own costumes and props, you could end up doing something related to theater, or costume/prop design. I know that I potentially want to do something like that, so I've started learning applicable skills and practicing with my own projects, like my suit of armor that I'm working on.

The replica isn't exact, it's half size, and their legs differ slightly, but when I saw her 'feet'- oh my goodness. Little feet flukes! So happy to see it in person.

So I moved to a state around 8 months ago that is the most beautiful state in this country, but has incredibly high unemployment, and a pretty barrren job market. I've wanted to live here forever so I took the plunge thinking that my education and work history would give me a leg up. I was so naive - people kept telling me work was hard to find and asking me if I was worried about that and I was like "nah, she'll be right mate!"

Well, I couldn't find work, and I applied for EVERYTHING. I have a degree, I used to run my own small business, and I have diverse but solid work history and I couldn't even get a job stacking shelves at midnight. I was starting to feel as useless as a glass hammer and then this week, everything changed. As they say, it never rains, but it pours.

I've had a slew of job interviews in the last ten days and today I have had three job offers. One of the opportunites (the one I was most excited about) offered me the role while they were still interviewing other candidates! and I am STOKED.

So I'm turning in my unemployed bum card, and looking forward to the ch-ch-ch-ch-changes (turn and face the strange ch-ch-changes!)

Thank you so much! I was considering taking more than one job, but ultimately I don't think a 7 day working week will conducive to good health, you know? Plus, taxes on the second job make the extra income almost not worth it (when you consider you're sacrificing your hobbies/rest/social life/time with your loved one as well).

The company I'm working for is a startup and they are at the forefront of a new technology. There's a laboratory in the office, the only of of it's kind in the country - which is rad! I am super excited.

Bonus points: I used to communte 2.5-3 hours a day before I moved here, and this new job is literally a 4 minute walk from my apartment. No more long commutes!

Guess who's officially a pilot!? Myself, this mer can fly planes as well as swim. I went on a 10 day flying course where I learned to fly a plane in only 7 days!

I just finished reading all of the currently-existing books in the Stormlight Archives. Doesn't sound like much at first but each book is insanely long. The publishing company had to tell the author when to stop on the first book before it became publishable. Playing all of the audiobooks for them non-stop from start to finish would be six straight days of content.

But they're so insanely well crafted and good. Well worth the read if you like fantasy novels.

Also if you are a fan of the stories in the Fire Emblem games I'd recommend them to you too. The plot follows a similar formula of "multiple characters wrapped up in the political strife of the fantasy world until the war wakes up ancient magical forces and the stakes skyrocket".

Happy to be swimming as a mermaid again. I also joined the Serious Swim which is part of Serious Request. They are an organization that collect money to help the Red Cross.
With a small group of mermaids we are going to swim for 14 hours :jawdrop:

Last night I was inducted into my old high school's Hall of Fame for all the State Championships I won while I went there!

I just got news saying that my grandfather has survived his operation. The reason why he was operated on is because the circulation in one of his legs was really bad, ant it was causing him discomfort. He's also a diabetic and he had a wound that was becoming gangrenous, so the hospital decided that the best option was to amputate his leg. He's over 80 so any major operation is risky. Even though he has one less leg, it means he won't be in pain anymore once he's recovered. I never knew he was diabetic because I have never seen any sores on him, so I think he'll recover well because he's a strong man. Please send all your love my way on behalf of my loving granfather!

Congrats! I just found out my mom is finally cancer free after a ton of chemo and surgery!

3d printing is rapidly becoming a cheap alternative to expensive prostethics if he wants an awesome robot leg :)

Woo! One happy Mer here. I finally passed for my driver's license. So now I can go around more easily instead of hoisting my tail on my back and ride my motorbike to events

I had my teeth cleaned, such a small thing has made such a big difference in my confidence. I also had my surgery this year and now am in remission for endometriosis.

My neck surgery turned out great! I had really bad degenerative disk disease to the point where it was compressing nerves. Specifically the ones on the left side of my body, which made it so my left arm had bad shooting pain and even caused random muscle spasms. It caused me to crush a glass in my hand, thank goodness I wasn't cut! I'm about 4 weeks out of surgery and I have a follow up with my surgeon tomorrow. Hopefully everything looks good and I can start lifting more than 10 pounds! I also want to be able to go swimming again!

So I just found out that a manager position is opening up at the store I work at (I'm currently a supervisor) and I've been encouraged to apply! I still have to go through the whole process and hope I can stand out above anyone else who applies... but I think I have a pretty good chance. Here's hoping! If I can get it, it would be a huge help financially. (I love my current position, but it's fewer hours and less pay than my last job. However, because it's at the same location I was working part-time when I had the other job, I also no longer have two jobs... so yay for even bigger drop in income :sweat drop: But on the plus side, I'm currently way happier and less stressed than I was at my other job so I'll take the mental health increase any day!)

I'm also excited because Finfolk is releasing their new fabric tails in a sale next week and I might actually be able to get one this time! I finally have enough money saved up and I splurged a bit yesterday in order to join the Pod Squad :dance:

And on top of that, my mom surprised me tonight with a late birthday present - a gorgeous and incredibly soft/fuzzy mermaid scale blanket!

Nice! Congrats! I passed mine a few years ago. But lately I became an ATV owner and that required some additional paperwork. Wow, check this page (https://yourmotobro.com/the-hows-and-whats-of-street-legal-atv/), I didn't know that it's illegal in some states, that was weird to know. But now I can ride my ATV into the woods! Well, I will when the lockdown is over....

I haven't been on here in a while, but I've settled in nicely into my bachelor of aviation degree! I passed the first exam with an 83% and I start my flying lessons next week! Becoming a commercial airline pilot has been a dream many years in the making, and it's coming true!

I work at a restaurant, and I gave a kid a miso soup, and he would not stop making miso puns. It was great. I laughed the whole time.
