They've had the concept art for a while, it's just nice to finally see them in real. :)

Part of me wants to do a custom fluke, and this adds to it, but I dislike the idea of the custom fluke fee. It makes perfect sense but then anyone else can use it for "free" afterwards and that just annoys me for some reason, probably cause I'm not good at sharing.

Ah yes! Speaking of which, the Perth Mermaids and Merman Arion will be just some of the visiting merfolk appearing at ADEX 2017 which is in Singapore (my lil corner of the world)! It's pretty exciting to see that many of the performing merfolk own Finfolk tails!

Every time I see a photo of the pink and yellow tail Finfolk made, it reminds me of when I would get a cotton candy swirl Popsicle at lunch in elementary school. So every time I see that tail, I can almost taste that popsicle. That alone makes me love this tail more and more.

It reminds me of these popsicles we have in the freezer cases at Walmart, lol. They are cherry and pineapple. I haven't tried one yet and don't remember what they're called (maybe Big Stick or something?) but they look yummy and in my messed up mind so does the tail 😂

The new Mythic line is astoundingly beautiful. I asked the same question about this effect for full silicone tails on base camp when they first added me as a customer. Fingers crossed there will be options. Still have no idea where I am in terms of production though! Probably right near the end of this year? I'm trying (failing) to contain myself.

I'm so mesmerized by the new iridescent mythic! I've been searching for a color shift gold for my tail project but they mainly shift golds to pinks. That shift from gold to white is exactly what I want!

It was originally last Nov. I have yet to hear back from the twins about a confirmed production month however the Body Pour was ticked off from the To-do list in Mar 22.

EK I know! I've been playing with templates, I've been more concerned with structure rather than design. But lately I've been trying to color my templates. I do have a fish I want to primarily base it off of since it has most of the colors I want.

I feel like with what tidbits I throw at them, they'll make it come to life in a much more loveable way than I could come up with :lol: (if that makes sense)

I thought so, but after the Perth mermaid's customs, I'm back to debating. I originally wanted the Lotus but after finding more of the Calypso (before the new mold) I wanted that one. Thought about getting a customized fluke, but the price and the possibility of sharing put me off (stupid I know, but that's me). Now I'm re-debating about new Calypso (which grew on me) or custom. :doh:

I like pocket fins for mine. What's the issue of yours? Just worried about pulling them out?

My original production month was scheduled for October 2016. I never really got an official update as to a new production time after that so as far as how many months before the projected month, I can't really answer but they posted that they started production in the middle of March. So far they've checked a few things off the to-do list (creating the pattern, fluke pours, body pours). It's been a long wait but I'm sure it will be worth it! Their work is so good and it's only gotten better since I first ordered.

as far as contact, I put in my deposit in sept 2015 and was given my basecamp invite I think in jan 2016. I started dumping any inspo photos around march 2016 and sometime in-between they told me my production month was in August 2016 however it go pushed without notice until march 2017 where they started to mark off the to-do list and they've been working on it since then! they did tell me at the very beginning that I would be waitlisted 9-12 months so August 2016 would have been the right production time. hope that helped!!

It's an old scale mold but not forgotten! A full shot of Mermaid Káshara's tail at the top with a close up at the bottom left pic. The bottom right is another close up but I can't find a pic of the full tail for that one Or it could be bracers. I'm so happy someone requested those scales!

Hey NaiaMarina!

No progress photo of my tail since the one they posted on their Instagram of my black tail. However I've sent them essays and I've got two messages from them twice: one was from their assistant asking if I wanted them to buy a bra or for me to ship one of my choosing to them but if I sent them one, it won't be mailed with my tail. The other message was after I asked on their IG if I could get some of that color changing pigments on my tail and they answered me back that they could and that they are slow with updates because they were waiting for those new pigments to come. Which is why they probably haven't worked on mine thinking I might want the new pigments. I'm getting antsy at this point and will most likely not want the new color changing pigments because i like how it looks so far. Even tho I'm going insane over the full color changing tail!!! It's so gorgeous! I had a similar idea but more black if that makes sense. Bc the color changing one, while having a black undertone, isn't really black black. Ya kno?! Lol! So at this point, my tail is on the slab with it painted one coat of black over a very pink tail. 🤷🏻*♀️

Seems like there are quite a few mers still awaiting their custom silicone tails: Arion, Me, Jake, NaiaMarina, both the Perth Mermaids, to my knowledge. Maybe Mermaid Hunter too?! Idk who else is awaiting but I do hope they finish AND fulfill the iridescent Mythic tail orders due to ship in July. My friend ordered one and she needs it to come on time! [emoji28]

On a positive note, I'm glad they posted that full silicone color shifting tail coz I've wanted that color shifting action on my tail from the start in shades of turquoise and gold. Wasn't sure at that time how they were gonna achieve it and kept sending them visuals on basecamp which they assured me could be done. Since that post I've gotten even more excited!

I think the color shifting on black would add such a nice dimension to your tail! I can just picture it in the water! [emoji7]

None since I last posted. They checked off the body pours at the end of April on Basecamp and that's the last I've heard.

Hey NaiaMarina!

No progress photo of my tail since the one they posted on their Instagram of my black tail. However I've sent them essays and I've got two messages from them twice: one was from their assistant asking if I wanted them to buy a bra or for me to ship one of my choosing to them but if I sent them one, it won't be mailed with my tail. The other message was after I asked on their IG if I could get some of that color changing pigments on my tail and they answered me back that they could and that they are slow with updates because they were waiting for those new pigments to come. Which is why they probably haven't worked on mine thinking I might want the new pigments. I'm getting antsy at this point and will most likely not want the new color changing pigments because i like how it looks so far. Even tho I'm going insane over the full color changing tail!!! It's so gorgeous! I had a similar idea but more black if that makes sense. Bc the color changing one, while having a black undertone, isn't really black black. Ya kno?! Lol! So at this point, my tail is on the slab with it painted one coat of black over a very pink tail. 路*♀️

Can I ask, how did you all go about picking the smaller design aspects on your tails, like additional fins? I suppose I could just compile a whole bunch of images and compare until I think I can see all the options, but it's kinda time consuming, ya know? Any tips?

Glad to hear that! Brainstorming and research is time consuming but such an exciting process! [emoji846]

Unfortunately FF hasn't had much contact with me thus far so I'm pretty much trying to figure it out by myself at the moment. While I understand they are short staffed, if they could work on improving replies and keeping clients updated, it would make such an impact to their biz. I think their clients would very much appreciate getting actual replies (especially when they say they are checking emails in the comment section on social media) even if the delays are inevitable. Hope that improves in the near future.

Improving their communication system is something they're going to work on once they finish more progress on the warehouse; it's something they're stated multiple times that they are going to work on. They're already hiring more help but they really need more space, so cleaning that warehouse out is a priority for them to get through their workload. The waiting game sucks, but once it's hammered out, it'll be a lot smoother. :) Patience <3

I try to think of the waiting game as a time to sort through what you want in a tail and to see what they roll out (like the iridescent colors or new flukes). Just use that extra time to figure out more designs and ideas :)

Thanks for the care tip on the side fins! That's really something I need to take note of.

Yea definitely got to be patient. It's got its pros and cons. Pros is that by the time they work on our tails, their artistry would have improved even more. It's also given me ample time to think about what my tail should look like. [emoji16]

Yes I totally agree. Mernetwork is such has such a wealth of knowledge! I'm still stumbling onto things that surprise and delight. I think the international community as a whole is pretty damn supportive. I like that.

Patience is sometimes easy and then sometimes i just feel like.. "I'm going to peel off my skin with excitement what even is patience". Haha.

And I see both sides of this in terms of communication. What FF are doing is HARD. Just glance at their Insta comments and you get an idea of the inundation of repetitive questions they must be flooded with on a daily basis. It's a full on administrative position to take care of something like that. However, before I was on basecamp I honestly thought that the communication complaints were primarily from non-basecamp customers and that there would have been, well, at least one update by now. I'm kinda freaking out that somehow I've dissapeared and they've forgotten about me! I only feel that way because it happened with my initial email and I'm sure basecamp is setup so that that can't happen. But it's still a feeling and it is legitimate. Hopefully they will be able to make some improvements in this area - it seriously the only (constructive I hope) criticism I have, and it is not even close to a complaint.

and Yes Mer Coralia, I agree entirely. When I was first added to BC I asked about a million questions about colour changing pigments but I honestly did not think they would be venturing that way. I'm actually so glad that I have waited this long. It's been said before but I'll say it again, they just keep getting better and better.

My original production date was October 2016. Yours was August, right? If my new date is end of August/early September, then your tail should be right around the corner.

Just got this reply in Basecamp from my qn in March:

Hey Nicole!
Yes, we have started to use color changing paint on our tails. This shouldn't be an issue to add to your tail. We are currently on an 18+ month wait time for all silicone orders. This being said please feel free to keep updating your designs and asking questions. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

I'm not sure what 18+ month wait means at the moment, will wait on a reply... but does that mean I can only expect it some time next year....? My original production date was Nov 16. [emoji848]

I agree with you Mermaid Marius (https://mernetwork.com/index/member.php?2597-Mermaid-Marius) she is skilled and good at it, she should have been able to come up with her own ideas and designs not duplicate or steal their, the twins worked very hard to make their tails unique to each clients dream tail for someone to just come and take it, but thats just me saying.

I understand how busy they are, but it's a bit disheartening to see extremely active social media, mythic tails rolling out the wazoo and hearing zip about a custom silicone after all this time. Everyone keeps asking me "when?" and I literally have no idea. People think I'm being scammed. I know I am not but that is how it appears to others.

Also a quick update and my timeline since I think ppl were curious before. They announced my production month a few months (maybe 5 months?) after my deposit. Deposit was send Sept 2015, production month was announced probably March or May 2016, Production month was supposed to be August 2016. No updates until in Feb 2017 where went 180 and I told them I wanted a black/white tail instead of pink and they acknowledged the change but they painted my tail pink anyways without showing a mock-up and paints. It was lovely but my heart is black lol! So they had to repaint it but it was no problem! The repaint is stunning and I threw some other ideas about color changing pigments. I requested a mockup or preview before painting more instead they gave me another progress photo of more layers of paint but now I'm not sure if I like it. There's a teeny bit of blue and purple added but I'm not sure if I'm feeling it. it's frustrating because I'm all over the place with ideas and they're always busy so I feel like I'm getting lost in translation. I would love to be able to communicate with them in person or something. They twins are on vacation right now so I will hopefully hear back from them after! [emoji177][emoji177][emoji177]

I got another update! It’s aaalllllllmost there lol!!! I wanted hearts and spots training down the front and into the fluke! It’ll represent my friends and family who contributed to my tail because they helped make my dream come true! They need to add a few more details I requested and I hope she’ll be on her way to me soon! One of the reasons why mine always looked different is because I wasn’t given a preview. I didn’t know what the end result was going to be or what paints are to be used. And I got paranoid on how it would look and had them make adjustments each progress photo because I didn’t know what they were going to do next. Awww thanks for saying that! [emoji4] That is a long time before summer. I'm in Asia so it's pretty much sun all year except for the rainy seasons. But yes waiting is hard. Never realized how torturous it can be. Haha!

Not me. They are so, so pretty and I really want one. But I really want that red/black one, and the lotus fluke, and I need a xs/s TALL option. I don't understand why they make them so short.

I LOVE the look of their new fabric tails! They're such a beautiful pattern, with any luck the chosen material will be thicker so not transparent, and LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THOSE FLUKES!
I think there's at least three colours I'd immediately kill to get, sadly at the moment can't even truly afford one. But they're far more affordable than the mythic or silicone tails so hopefully will get one soon.

That is, if they're okay with shipping to the UK. I don't remember if Finfolk are among the companies having trouble dealing with UK customs? Be so sad if they are.

Does anyone know the title of the email that you get when you join the Pod Squad? I joined a while ago and I can't find the email. I don't have a Facebook but now it is crucial that I figure out a way to gain access - I am not sure if I can use my boyfriend's account...I know it sounds dumb that I'm not on Facebook but I honestly don't want an account. I originally joined the squad because I wanted to help fund Finfolk's warehouse move. Finfolk just said on their Instagram post that the fabric tails will only be on presale for Pod Squad members, and I REALLY want to snag one of these tails. I want it so badly that I am going to do some flex time next week to work an extra two hours each day so that I can take Friday off to sit and wait for these to go up for sale. I'm going to be a zombie but I don't care. I NEED to have a chance. :sweat drop:

I know I've posted about this previously but when I did give some feedback for the girls, they told me if the fabric line was successful, they'd hold off mythic production to let the twins focus on custom work as they called it. So hopefully that is happening and your tails will come into reality :D I'm super excited for everyone's orders and to see how they turn out!

IT IS FINALLY IN MY ARMS!!!!!! IM SO HAPPY!!!! I asked them beginning in November if i can have by my bridal shower and I got an email on Wednesday Nov 29 that then can ship it! So we were all scrounging to get photos, payment, approvals, etc. going. It was crazy! They shipped it overnight Friday in time for my bridal shower and i surprised my guests and opened it with them there! I was trying not to cry and I was shaking with excitement!

I did an unboxing that needs to be edited but I haven’t even started my YouTube so I won’t post it until maybe about one or two videos in maybe. Idk I’m a hot mess. And I may look unenthused in the video bc its just me being so anxious and shaking I was trying to keep composure lol! I’ll throw in some photos and clips here in the meantime until i decide what to do with the unboxing video!

I just received part of my shipment from my Black Friday order so I'd expect to hear something soon and if you still don't, email them. They're still a small company and trying to expand, so customer responses can be painfully slow. I boil my diva cup to sanitize it, but I doubt your tail will fit in a pot on the stove [emoji28] I think they recommend a very good, hot rinse, then prop the tail open with a fan blowing inside to dry it quickly and prevent mold from forming. I have seen others suggest every now and then a soak in the tub with baking soda (?) to neutralize the chlorine.

@MeliPixie oh! no it didn’t. I forgot about a care sheet. The delivery time was pretty tight so I think including a care sheet was a simple mistake. Im sure I can have one emailed to me if I ask!

Hahah I definitely can’t find a pot big enough to boil it lol! I saw some use some sort of Clorox wipes but I forgot where.

If you're that paranoid, how are you ever going to swim in it?

my tail is currently under my couch because my house has all this wedding stuff, crafts, presents, etc. everywhere and I’m still trying to clean up and have a nice spacious well lit place to try on my tail without stuff around or obstructions (my place is so small!) I was going to try it on during winter break but I got sick with the a bad cold AGAIN.

I really do want to swim in it but I want my first swim to be in my sister’s pool who lives a little far from me. She has a heated pool that’s super filtered! No chlorine or salt so it’s like bathwater and I can see underwater better too. It’s a great place to practice since I’m so new. I know I sound weird and irrational for not trying it on right away but i want to be 100% comfortable in myself and in my surroundings for my first time. Also it’s just so pretty you don’t want anything to happen to it lol!

they posted them on the Pod group on FB, and i think they released the designs on instagram as well. I heard they will be offering a feature where you can add extra fins.

I did! But I mostly focused on a live one for the pod. For the other camera I'm not sure if I'll post that footage, we literally just left the camera on a shelf while we ogled the tail :lol:

I've been taking photos when I can and slowly story-posting them on Insta. It's even more gorgeous in person and actually a little different from the original version since I asked them to add something for me :pearl: It's such a throwback to my original design I wanted by them, it's really unbelievable.

I don’t think I updated y’all about my Finfolk tails!

I caved and bought the Black Midnight Magic Mythic on Friday the 13th in April and I received it about a month later! Idk why mine came so fast! I did a live unboxing in the Finfolk Pod Squad so if you’re part of that group, just search my name for the video (Bebe Le). I got the size small which fits like a glove! Hard to get into myself but i just need to practice more. I never thought I’d get a Mythic but I couldn’t resist the black and I have no regrets! I love it!

During Memorial Day weekend and after 5 months of receiving it, FINALLY TRIED ON MY FINFOLK SILICONE TAIL!!!!! It took me about 20 minutes to get into using Astroglide lube. I was tugging too much with my short nails and got some paint under my nails. But I didn’t see any paint damage or scratches on my tail so may it was just a little off the top layer (oops!) so I gotta be careful next time. I may use rubber gloves so I have a better grip. It fits a bit snug but I gained some weight since I received it back in Dec 2017. But it sits highwaisted how I wanted and it hugs all my curves! My only thing is the damn ankle wrinkle! I gotta figure out a way to move that part around so it’s less noticeable. I did a dip in the pool too and it swims like a dream!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! I can’t wait to practice more in my sister’s pool. Here’s some photos of me and the tails and a swim video! It's such a classic, and it'll be good for photos since it holds up well (the Perth mermaids noted that when they received the Dory tail).
