basically I'll sum up my *personal* history with her. (and these are all in older drama thread posts, they're just hard to track down because she changed her name so many times) Gather round children.

I was always pretty nice to her, I even donated money to her various gofundmes on more than one occasion. When she got in arguments with a merman on here I helped her clarify her points. I even briefly had her as a friend on FB and tried to help her when a mer with autism fixated on her a lot and argued and she was trying to get out of those situations.

Back then she was considering tail making and was still just making tops and headdresses and accessories. This was back when Stevi of fishbutts was still in GOOD standing with people. We had no reason to believe at the time that Stevi would become a scam artist.

Morticia (I think she went by Anna Norris back then, or even Raven) was pretty close with Kanti (someone who went on to steal from the community) and both of them were close with another neoprene based tail maker who is also no longer active. From *my* perspective, the husband of that now-inactive neoprene tail maker was on a big mission to discredit a lot of tail makers, most of whom he saw as competition to his wife. There were numerous posts (all still there if you dig through the archives) calling out tail makers. One was about mertailor, one about fishbutts etc.

At the time, like I said, Stevi was in good standing with the community. When that husband turned his sights on Stevi, he rallied other people like Morticia and Kanti to his cause. I am sure he said some convincing stuff to them and knowing what the guy was like, I don't blame them for falling for it.

Around this time this guy put me and Stevi on one of those exploitive nude photo websites. Basically it's like revenge porn website, and the guy who ran the website was arrested by the FBI last year. Now, despite the fact I have done published artistic nude modelling, they didn't put anything of mine up there. Just my website, email and pics of me with kids. (which is pretty lame.) but for Stevi this guy was working with another guy in the community, and they hacked her phone and got actual nudes from her. They posted it on this website and her phone number so Stevi started getting harassed by dudes on the website daily. I know who was responsible because they made accounts and bragged about it using their real names, and I double checked their IP with IPs I had on file for them from previous posts and harassment, and they matched.

Now, I know stevi turned into a scam artist. This is not to DEFEND her cuz what she did was wrong. But I wouldnt be surprised if this experience was one of the things that led to her downfall. She and I would talk a lot those days. The website would only take your stuff down if you paid them like 1000$. I just ignored it because I only ever got the off message and I think most of the people on there kinda saw through the posts of me and didn't bother. But they were all over Stevi. So at the time, I was feeling pretty defensive of Stevi. That's a really shitty thing to do to another human being.

So, Stevi starts getting harassment on her fan pages and fb page. So I suspect most of the people are these guys, but one woman kept showing up. I clicked on one of the women and it was a fan page and when I clicked on "about" this was back in the day when Fb would show you who owned the fanpage. And who was it? Morticia. I took screen shots of that, screen shots of morticia's FB profile on the day the postings were made which showed the activity. I sat on this info for the most part. I wasn't sure what to do with it. I let Stevi know so she could block morticia, and back then Mernetwork didnt have rules about off site harassment.

So within the next week or so Morticia and Kanti started really digging into Stevi. A few other members who didnt know better got on board. So I made a post where I said something along the lines of, can you blame her, and I listed the shit happening to her and mentioned that members of mernetwork were making fake FB pages to harass her. I didn't name Kanti or Morticia, or even make any suggestion it was them. Because back then the other people involved the guys were also on mernetwork. So really it was a fairly all encompassing comment.

Well, Morticia outed herself and so did Kanti by defending themselves to an extreme level, and then throwing accusations at me. It turned into this giant "Raina is lying" things and I was surprised people didnt even put two and two together that I didnt name them, and they named themselves which right away should of shown they were guilty. It started escalating pretty fast, and a few members who aren't fans of me took the opportunity to add fuel to the fire and we had a whole on hate Raina thread filled with made up stuff from Morticia trying to deflect away from what she'd done. Iona was sent the screen shots proving what Morticia did. So she posted them, along with the proof of her profile. You'd think that be pretty strong proof eh?

Well Kanti claimed I hacked FB. Photoshopped an elaborate screen shot (it included other open windows, the desktop, everything) and framed morticia. lol. Because I wanted to keep her from being a mermaid tail maker. Then they started demanding I produce video showing the page belonged to Morticia (I had mentioned earlier being willing to make a video tutorial showing people how to check the owners of a FB page) but naturally, Morticia had long since deleted the facebook fanpage, and changed her name about 3 times on facebook. Next thing we know Morticia's "mom" has a new mernetwork account. The IP address matches Morticia's despite the fact she claims to not live with her mom, and they both match morticia's place of work as well. And her 'mom' starts getting in on all the drama.

At this point the shit is flying and since a few of the comments got me mad and I cursed a few people out, I took a voluntary suspension to cool off. I think I spent a month off mernetwork even though I only needed to spend a week. I genuinely felt like they had turned people against me, so when I returned I promised to make a better effort on not "eluding" to things but rather posting facts I could cite (which i do now!) Moritcia and Kanti are livid I came back (despite being gone for a month) and accused Iona of "favortism" and siding with me (um hello, actual proof) and this was when they made their own "wavedancers" forum where a huge amount of the posts were just them bitching about me and Iona, and on multiple times making up elaborate lies they'd tell the rest of the community. (sorry folks. Iona holds me even more accountable than you guys BECAUSE we are friends. Where some of you will get chances, I go right to a ban/suspension so people don't think there's favortism. And there's been many a time I've felt I've been punished overly when others have not)

Morticia started making tails and changed her name again, now to morticia. Kanti started her tail tutorial and fundraising. Morticia tries a gofundme for a tank which falls flat, and gets mad at the community for not supporting her. Kanti gets mad more people aren't donating to hers when they ask for more info on her process.

Fast forward and I have several friends who now have tails by morticia, all falling apart after one swim, all two big, all with paint that comes off after one swim. My friend (I wont name her, but Iona knows who she is) starts taking in morticia's tails and fixing them up for people. I tried to be the bigger person and just act professional with Morticia and Kanti. I'd congratulate them on things, I even sent morticia money to show her water under the bridge when she had another fundraiser. But you know, the entire time I am thinking, these two are going to cause big problems.

So fast forward, that guy and his wife I mentioned are now no longer active. Kanti has run off with everyone's money. And Morticia is making tails but pretty much gone from the face of the Earth.

I have ALWAYS wanted to tell *my* side of the story, and for anyone who doubts it if you feel up to it you can dig through all the old posts in the thread. I have been concerned about both Kanti and Morticia since day one. Especially considering while Kanti was still active, I found stuff on other websites about her scamming. Kanti had people so convinced I was "out to get her" that I didn't feel like I could post it publicly. SO I instead sent it to the mods and the few people I knew supporting kanti privately so they could be the judge. As far as morticia goes, like I said. Teiri got a good tail she was happy with. If morticia was making a GENUINE effort to turn her life around and be a good person, I was NOT going to kick her down. I'd rather swallow my pride (like I've done with "merrowfins" despite all our horrible history) and see another GOOD tail maker enter the scene, that drudge up old drama and potentially cost someone getting a great tail.

But, basically Teiri is the only person I know who got their tail and liked it. I think Morticia will follow in Kanti's footsteps and her past behaviour on mernetwork and FB has shown me she can just change identities or switch off whenever she needs too.

I think a *lot* of people set out to be the best tail maker (fishbutts, jesse, merberry) but they set themselves up for failure day one by pinning themselves against tail makers who have had years or even decades to get where they are. They take on a bunch of orders early on and cant keep up.

So there ya go. Now ya know. *eats marshmellow*

As far as I know, the only other person that I know of who was happy with their tail was Melusinah-- Not sure if that's still the case or what, though, I haven't seen her active since I ordered my tail. :/ And literally the only problem that I've ever had with my tail has been where the fabric bunches up around the monofin's footpockets and sometimes drags the fluke to one side when I swim. Beyond that, it's held up amazingly and taken beatings like a tank.

I had no idea she had such a bad history, hooooooly crap. D: If I'd known she'd done all that stuff, I'll admit... as much as I love my tail, I probably wouldn't have ordered from her. I went with her because, at the time, she was only one anybody seemed to know of who did painted neoprene and was actively taking orders-- and the only reviews I'd seen of her tails were positive (99% from Melu, mainly).

Now I really wanna know how many others have ordered tails since I did besides Phaylenn. Hoping I can find the thread from that one mer who talked about getting a lionfish tail around the same time as me, as I don't think they ever got theirs and it's been over a year and a half now.

yeah well for me it's hard for me to speak out about shady people and shady tail makers, I was literally the first person to ever do it and I've been doing it 8 years now. Typically when I call someone out they come back with the "bully" defense. and I can't just say something publicly before someone buys something- I mean hey, look how well that worked for me in another recent thread- :p. People just try to discredit you as much as possible. It's one of the reasons why I didnt feel I could say anything about Jesse either. I have been around 8 years I know all the shit. It's just whether or not people wanna hear it you know? I would of loved to have warned you, but let's be honest. If I said something, Morticia woulda argued me, tried to discredit me, I get dragged into a big drama, you end up hating me because you think I am trying to keep you from your dream tail... it goes on lol.

I have issues with other tail makers. I know one well known tail maker (not mertailor) who got their start by literally getting their hands on another well known tail maker and dissecting their tail under a totally different guise. It drives me insane watching so many people, some of them my friends, order from them. When I know how they started, and I know some friends who have had bad experiences. But people just do not want to hear it. Especially if they feel they had a good experience. Because it taints it that someone else didn't. Plus, if the tail maker who was taken advantage of doesn't want to deal with it or hold the dissectors accountable, I can't fight that battle for them.

That neoprene tail maker I talked about who doesnt make tails anymore, Ive seen so many of them fall apart after first use. Merberry? I was calling her out long before people started getting scammed.

Like honestly, I could write a book about the crap I know. But not everyone would want to hear/read it lol

I'll never understand the logic of it. The hell does she mean by "when she's ready?" If I bought a silicone tail right now "so I'd have it for when I'm ready" it'd just end up being a huge waste of money. Yes, I've spent probably $10,000 or more at this point. But I take the courses because I love them and I love to learn about healing and psychic ability and metaphysics... I find it all so interesting and it's always self-help for me in that in order to learn to perform these different healing modalities on other people, we always first have to learn how to perform them on ourselves. I am on disability for major depression recurrent and reflex sympathetic dystrophy. I don't have a lot to do during the day and I suffer from a lot of pain. A lot of these healing courses have helped me and improved my conditions substantially - so that is why I have taken so many. I don't care about the certifications except in a couple of the courses that I intend to one day start my own business in... The certifications are just a side note to taking classes in healing modalities because the topics interest me and some of the methods significantly help me with my conditions. The ones that have become important to me as practices I'd like to become a practitioner in are... Unicorn Healing Practitioner, Angel Therapy Practitioner, Certified Crystal Healer, Certified Practitioner of Crystal Medicine, and Certified Archangel Life Coach :)

Just because I have SOME certifications by Doreen Virtue doesn't mean she's the ONLY teacher I've ever had or studied under or the only person I have credentials from. Furthermore, as I said, I was listing my accomplishments/achievements... My actual focus is on holistic healing methods, particularly Crystal Healing, which I got a certification from a school that was fully accredited and led me to getting my AAS (Associate's in Applied Science) in Vibrational Medicine at Sierra Community College later on. I feel like you are still dismissing me and treating me like an idiot or a layperson of Doreen Virtue, which I'm not. Like I said, just because I've taken licenses and certifications from her doesn't mean I'm in some, "idiot club," or that Angel Therapy is even a main focus of mine... Psychics and tarot readers all rely on cold reading and the power of suggestion. Anyone can do it. It's nothing but guessing games and card tricks. Of course, there's nothing wrong with the entertainment value of it, but there are people actually hurting who are coming to those charlatains, paying large amounts of money for a conducive answer that would make them feel good, when they should be getting actual grief or financial counselling.

I had a rough week! Have been overthinking to much and that's my struggle. I get really insucure about myself and when someone points out on me that moment, I'll explode.

so here it go's:
I have been in this comunnity for a few years now and really have learned alot. I've seen people starting up on mermaiding and are now hailfway going pro. I al really happy to see how quickly they envolve over these short times etc. All these years I have seen mermaiding as a hobby and getting to know more people with the same intrest here on the forum.

Now, I always want to see the best in people and i'm always being positive and kond to them in every way. There is just one thing I can't stand: Pointing out on you or when they talk to you (online) and I always have the feeling they don't take their intention, but this is really how it makes me feel. And the worst is; these people pop up constanly all over my social media, posting every 'breath' they take and just get sooo much attention. Or at least I think it is.

This just makes me feel so small even I've been way longer in the comunnity.
And now - here it comes. Dealing with asperger I mostly overthink waaaay to much and interpretate some stuff everything wrong. (Esmecially when it's written)

I don't want any drama started or so. I'm just ranting my thoughts out that have been locked in my head for a while.

It just would be nice to get some respect, even when u are diffirent and maybe haven't accomplish much in metmaiding as others. I love it no matter what and doing it for the full 200%.

Rant time!Members speak up in support of a mermaid who has her tail design stolen. Eden posts this. Why do you all feed into it? Do people not realize the people complaining the most about mernetwork being bullies, are people who came on and broke rules and got reprimanded? Instead of being accountable for their actions, they go the "wah bullies" route and so many of you feed into it.This is literally because members tried to support someone who has something stolen. So I hope you all feel great by saying yeah no bullies, while actually empowering theft.The mermaid community would not be what it is without mernetwork. period. We had no place for mermaids before it. No exchange of information. No community. Sure, not everyone on there is great, but show a little respect for something that shaped the community long before many current mermaids even had tails. "You say you want to be supportive and uplifting, yet you're bashing a whole group of people, saying they are rude and unkind. To be honest there is a LOT (and I mean a LOT a lot) more drama on Facebook than on MerNetwork. People just don't see it all because of restricted access to people's friends only or restricted friends posts; also because it is scattered through feeds and not everyone sees posts even if they are public. On a forum it's all out in the open and organized to be seen and accessed easily. So while it seems like a lot more, it really isn't.



Yes, there are some people on the forum and in the community who can be harsh and even toxic. But that happens in every single community everywhere. Even Churches and other religious groups, even knitting groups, even departments in hospitals, anything you can think of- has this problem. It's human nature. It being online doesn't help, but anyone who has been on the internet knows that people can be worse online than in person. Youtube comments, reddit, facebook, ect, have pools of toxicity when it's all out in the open for the public. I've had lots of people say that MerNetwork is the most polite and calm forum they've run across. For those that frequent public online forums, it's pretty obvious how much more tame it is than the vast majority of other places :P Difference is that MerNetwork actually pays attention and disciplines people who are bullying others, unlike most other social media that doesn't care about it's users.






And honestly, having a open forum for the community has done a LOT of good. And not just in spreading helpful information either (like a ton of tail makers have learned how to make tails there, leading to more options and healthy competition in the tail market, when it use to just be 3 people making tails). Just because something is labeled "drama" does not mean it is not truthful or helpful to the community as a whole. There have been a lot of people who have been held accountable for their wrongdoings publicly, and that has helped the community. For instance, scammers who try and take advantage of the community.
There are also many instances where disagreements or misunderstandings are cleared up on the forum. Like today for example, when there was a misunderstanding regarding Matty and a specific design. If that was not public, the air on that subject may have never been cleared, and now it is.






Also, people on MerNetwork rallied for you and asked how they could help when you got banned from swimming in your local pool. They also did when MerNation ignored you and even tried to discredit you after you tail started falling apart.


Yes, there can be drama. Not all "drama" is drama though- a lot of it ends up being helpful and moves the community forward and helps it become better. I and many others have made good, and even life long, friends through MerNetwork. We are always looking to help people realize their dream of becoming a memaids. Myself and others have spent 100s, even 1000s of hours, not only making resources, but helping people individually. So I think that your broad statement that we don't uplift people, that we're rude and unkind, is very misplaced. You yourself have benefited and been uplifted by the same forum, by the same people, that you're now talking down about.


And no, MerNetwork isn't for everyone. And I respect that. For example, I wouldn't get mad at someone just because I like to use Facebook and they like to use Twitter- that's just silly. But I will speak my piece in a situation like this when someone is trying to make a broad false generalization about a community like this.

Mernetwork is hacked, and one of these people used to threaten that all the time and also admitted to having stevi ( fidhbutts before her downfall) phone hacked. Stole her nude photos. And posted it on a revenge porn website and took full credit at the time. ( documented on here previously, same person put non nude photos of me on there and encouraged people on the forum to harass me)

All that happens but guess what, we are the bullies. Cuz everyone politely stood up for Lorelei.

It's one of those Facebook features that I absolutely loathe. In my opinion, if I want to join a group, I'll join or request (if it's a closed/private group). Maybe I'm going off the deep end here, but every time I get added to a group I feel a bit violated.

Truth be told, I'm staying in the group with my popcorn ready for drama to begin. Y'all know it's coming!

You should know the answer after all these years..LOL.....In most cases, its envy, jealousy, ect. Some people can't stand when others are happy and successful (and dont need them) and crave all the power and attention. They want others to look up to them and worship them and their successes and the ones that question their ethics are immediately portrayed to be the 'trouble makers' ect. or in some cases 'bullies.' This will never change. Like ever. Some people cannot change. Some will see the error of their ways and others will always continue to be mean, unethical, unprofessional, bully, whatever, but eventually they move on to bother someone else. It is a sad fact in any community there will be toxic people. We have to just continue to tell our truths and the ones that complain about it are always the ones actually causing the trouble. They will never admit they were wrong, will never apologize for being a dick, and the ones that blindly follow will always side with them, so we need to get over that and just purge all of them. All that said, I do want to thank those who have always stuck up for me over the last several years when our community was dealing with our own shit.

2) everyone supported Vanora when Mertailor screwed her over and she posted multiple times about being done with mermaids and we encouraged her

OK so for people who WANT to be in the group, do whatever, but I think that's a bad choice. These are people who have repeatedly over years been absolute horrible. They count on people like you to give them chances or excuse away their behaviour so they can validate themselves in continuing to do it.

It enables them to be abusive toward members of the community and mernetwork.


For all the new people, Mernetwork isn't all that dramatic, it's just unfortunate people who have had long standing issues continue to stir up shit. Mernetwork was created so we could have a SAFE space to talk about what ACTUALLY goes on in the mer world. Back when we had our old forum, mertailor would try and get the forum taken down any time someone posted a mildly negative review of their experience with him. They try to censor us. They hate mernetwork because posts don't get deleted and anyone can come and see the proven track record of behaviour and it affects their business. But it's not mernetwork that's actually causing them to lose business, it's their own bad behaviour!!!

When someone is speaking truth and providing proof and they can't argue it, the only thing they have to fall back on, is trying to discredit so you wont believe truth even when it's sitting in front of your face. And that has been the mertailor mission since day one, and anyone else who feels like mernetwork holds them accountable.

You will see very few posts in drama that could actually be qualified as bulling, and those posters are always reprimanded (even when their name calling might be accurate). In reality, it's these provokers who cause all the problems, who do all the name calling, who make threats, who try to do damage and then go cry about it when Iona suspends them calling us all Bullies.

I think the drama hangs around though because we do go to war for the right to speak our TRUTH. An example for all you newbies: Mernetwork was the first place people could post honest reviews and document experiences. Before that, mertailor would threaten anyone who wanted to express anything negative about their tail, and a guy named Adam Martyn made mermaids pay 6-10k for tails he never ever made. He just skipped town. AND NO ONE WAS TALKING ABOUT IT.

I made the first "negative" review about my terrible mertailor experience. (he charged me 1k for an alex plus tail that was shortr than the measurements I gave him by 10 inches and fell apart, and plus he claimed it was 'real' latex and the alex plus gave me blood poisoning) The dude went to actual WAR on me for YEARS. Years. He did everything he could to slander me so people wouldn't believe me. He sent me threats. He made fun of me. He tried to make it so no one awesome would work with me. He recruited other people to harass me. What I was saying was TRUTH I had photos and video and people could SEE it with their own eyes, that I'd been wronged. But so many people were afraid of mertailor so I got very little support. However, it did start to affect his business. Finally more and more people got inspired to speak out (though many citing they were terrified he would act the same way he did to them, as he did to me) and low and behold there was a year there where mertailor almost went bankrupt. The only thing that saved him was landing a tail for a lady gaga performance (which he greatly exaggerated the details of) and mermaid Melissa flipping from hating him, to once again deciding to publicly support him. Once he picked up steam again he's been an unstoppable force.

In my example with mertailor, I don't wanna ruin him. I think he serves a purpose in the community. I just wish he'd have better practices (like you know, NOT stealing from others. Those fins he makes that are separate from the tails? Oh I know the whole story about that one too and who he stole from to get that) He seems like such an innovator but there's a long list of people afraid to speak out because he can be totally insane when he sets his targets on people.

It's shit like that why we NEED mernetwork and why people NEED to be able to have a space to talk about their experiences without being shamed for "drama". It seems our community takes anything where there are two sides and labels it drama.

With Matty, I am totally disappointed. I championed the guy when he split from eric even though eric eluded that Matty was the one who killed the fish in his pond. (I messaged eric directly about this, because I suspected someone else in the community. He did not name matty but certainly eluded to him. Whether that was true, or just eric trying to cause problems for matty I dont know. Point is, I gave matty a chance despite that stuff). I invited people to like his page, I supported him, even went to bat when a few well known community members came at him.

I think we can all agree that while we understand Matty did all these amazing contributions to mertailor's productions... that we'd prefer to see him branch away and do his own thing instead of continuing to try and do the kind of stuff he did there. It just makes it look like a mertailor knock off. But for me, it's the mertailor like behaviour that upsets me. I thought Matty was better than that. I really respected when he made his video addressing all the stuff that went down with mertailor. But for him to use a design he knows was stolen, and then to escalate all this drama?

Think about how much more this community would love and support Matty if he had said something like "oh shit, my bad, I didnt think of that. Really sorry lorelei! I won't use it." people would lose their minds in the BEST way to see him act like that. It would of been the best PR move ever. Would of really shown people he ISN'T a mertailor knock off.

But instead, we get drama in the thread. We get his old roomate making stupid posts, And mernetwork gets taken down with the community all riled up. It's like his warning : don't mess with me I will make shit happen.

And once again we get stuck in that loop where people no longer feel safe to speak truth.
