I talked with Abby and Bryn about it this past week and they said they would ship it today, but I haven't heard from them. Hopefully (both sets of fins crossed) it will ship sometime tomorrow or better yet, it shipped today and they forgot to send me a notice. Either way, it should be really soon.

For now... Here's a sneak peak of my fluke that was in the process of completion but I'm told it's now completed and it looks to be attached too in another photo. Just waiting on painting now. I'm hoping to have it by Saturday for a beach themed costume contest for roundtrip tickets to Puerto Rico. If not, they'll always be more opportunities. But besides that... these last almost 6 months have just been excruciating. I know the girls have never encountered anything like this before so the time had gotten extended due to the upgrades. And now it's so close!

I can't wait :3 the Finfolk Facebook page has been my morning news everyday for the last since February 15th of this year lol.

Maressa, I ordered mine in mid-June. I have no idea how many orders are ahead of me! My tail design is buried in this thread in post #680-something. It's an aurora borealis tail. I think I'll have them do slightly different fins, though.

It might be soon :) Just need to ask when the mers who currently have tails in production ordered theirs. I can't be of any help because I ordered mine in February and then pushed back my production time after talking to the twins about the 'something new' that they have coming out (which I think is going to be awesome! ;) ).
I think we were hitting the April or May mers, but I'm not entirely sure.

Yes, and extremely timely. The fluke alone took about two weeks I think? Add another 3 weeks for the individual scales.


With all the upgrades and a bra, at current prices, my tail's about 5,000$ roughly. Saved it all up myself without help however...
I have potential sponsors in the works to purchase a second tail in the future for me. I know I'm crazy, but you'll never know unless you ask about things like this :)

Hubby finished the storage mount for my tail last yesterday, I came home from work to see this:

We has to get creative with the fluke, since I chose not to have the competitor the fluke tips flopped down and pulled the tail off balance and risked tipping out of the mount. Well, at least I think that is why lol. Anyways, the top anchors are just little straps that easily unhook to let the tips free. :)

Yep... so did I. They have been doing the "Oh we are almost done, going to ship next week" thing for about a month and a half now. Don't get me wrong, I understand that most tail makers (gonna use Merbellas as my example) several months to do a repair/refit but it does not get any less frustrating being told week after week that it will be coming.

Still, the last message they left me was about dropping off several client's worth of gear at UPS yesterday, so who knows? Could be today when everybody's tracking numbers come in.

Here's the preview of mine they posted a while ago on instagram. I REALLY hope I get out before I travel. I'm quite sad all my plans didn't go through. I was hoping June was the latest.

I just finished my sketches for my new tail design, pending a few life changing events I will be putting a down payment on my finfolk tail in the fall! I can't wait to show you all the design and get feed back

I ordered mine in early June and told them I have no deadline. I'm assuming I'll get it in November-January with the current rate of things :) . No matter how good they are at scheduling, when people add-on/rush order/etc. it messes it up. Not saying anything's wrong with that, it's just how things are. And I'd rather they take their time on my tail then try to rush it for some deadline- after all, it's a work of art!

I think a tiger is more orange than that tail though. There could be another Tigerlike-tail without problem, just add more stripes, other colors and it's a completely different tail on the same concept! Don't lose hope!!! :hug:

I don't think it's realistic to expect every new tail to bear no resemblance to other tails that were made before. And even if there were two professional mers with two identical tails in the same precise geographical location (which is unlikely), what difference does it make? Every person in their own tail looks different from other mers. We're all individuals with different bodies, faces, accessories, styles. The only people who are likely to even know that your tail resembles someone else's are the people on this forum and the tailmaker. The tail design of your dreams should remain the tail design of your dreams, regardless of what anyone else does! Take heart!

I agree with Yulia, it doesn't even look that tiger-ish! It's less orange than I'd imagine, and the stripes are too even and rigid. It's a lovely tail, but I think there could be different, more accurate designs you could come up with. You can still have a unique tigertail yet! :)

I have made a tiger design over a Finfolk tail picture ages ago but the colours are completely different! A tiger is orange, brown, black and white. Even the stripes are different as they taper to a point, not thick lines. No need to cry?

I love the new fluke, but my new tail is going to be cotton candy colored and I feel like those new tapered rough edges on the outside wouldn't go as well with a cotton candy tail as nice smooth edges would.

I like to think of it as giving me more time to replenish the money I'm spending for it -- even though it's completely worth it! ;)

Just a general note to everyone who is saddened by similar color designs or tail designs, I can tell you that in the art world, there is a lot of overlapping. This is just something that happens. Tails are no exception- there are many beautiful fish in the sea, and if you and another mermaid are the same fish, that's ok! There's more than one in the ocean, too! ;) In Burlesque (what I do) there is a lot of costume overlap and taking ques from the designs of others... this isn't a ripoff, it's an inspiration. If you show your dream design to a friend, and she secretly orders that exact design before you do and decides to be a pro mermaid in your town with your design without asking you, THAT'S stealing. Otherwise... enjoy the tails! :)

The first time I wore my tail was last Thursday and my mermaid friend Claire and her friend Alexia helped me getting my tail over my butt for the photoshoot. The second time was this morning at the beach and I did it all by myself. It wasn't easy but I was proud because I was alone. I used plain water from a bottle and sex lube. It worked out great but near the end, I had to use a small towel to grab the top and pull it gently over my big butt because my hands were slippery thanks to the lube. That's the trickiest part. Then, I made sure to get all the wrinkles from the ankles to the waist. The whole thing took me 15 min.
I wore a thong because silicone stick better to the skin but not the swimsuit. I wasn't worried of my big butt being watched at the beach because I was alone at this time. I wanted to swim at sunrise so time was around 7 am and nobody was there! I'm so gonna do it again tomorrow! :D

Mine also is skin tight and I also felt slightly a gap behind my back while swimming fast thanks to my competitor monofin. I can't really tell until I make an underwater video but I didn't bother much because there will always be a gap no matter what you do and it's normal. I sent two set of measurements to the twins and they did a great job with them! If even Theobromine has a gap, there is nothing that we can do.
So when u order it, u just give them your exact measurements? I'm afraid I'll give them my measurements and then it'll be like 1/8 of an inch too big and I'll have to wear a belt or something. If I order a tail I want it to fit tight like you said yours is! U said you gave them two measurements?

Yup. That's what I did. I sent two measurements for them from two different templates. Mertailor's and theirs. It worked really well. Abby and Bryn are goddesses. I don't think anyone ever complained about a size problem.

Mine is too big around the hips, but I haven't officially "complained" about it. The waist is super tight so it doesn't gape, and it means I can get it on in a minute ;)

*complains about size too* My fault though. I had gotten into a relationship :p shortly after and even though we were hitting the gym lots, we went out to eat twice as much. I had been planning on losing weight but instead, didn't realize I had gained it LOL. I like to call it, "happy fat".

And if you're getting the seaweed bra, measure out your bra straps too. I didn't, they never asked, so the top sits SLIGHTLY higher than what's needed. Nip slips r fun.

Getting back into shape though. Even if the pool waters make me sick every time.
