Thank you! It's actually just a normal wave! I extended it with ducktape and Zip ties thanks to Jadestone's extension technique. I gotta find a new way to go about it though, while the ducktape is awesome and it looks fantastic underwater I'm just too rough with it and it doesn't hold up as well as I'd like. I'm not particularly gentle with my tails no matter how I try (I have advanced butterfingers, I can't hold on to anything).
But it is worth the time if you don't mind a little extra maintenance!

Don't mind me. Just rolling to my next spot for a mini beach Photoshoot. Hope this makes someone giggle

So I worked with this local photographer for the first time. He'd barely done underwater work and only with a bag housing which if you've tried them are so frustrating. You often end up with 90% of your photos blurry because bag housings aren't a tight fit and the lenses have trouble focusing through them. But it's hard to tell it's blurry in the display. So anyway.

We brought a backdrop and he brought spotlights. This was a time for print shoot. The results? I think amazing for one of a handful of times doing underwater, and his first doing mermaids! Improvements? yes. But, I paid money for underwater shots before from 'professionals' who make a living doing just underwater and the shots were horrible. This guy trying it out with way less gear, less reliable gear and less expensive gear... did a much better job. I am proud of him.

Now my strongest poses... because honestly in this case 75% came out blurry and the ones that didn't were often more movement and in between shots. I still don't know how to relax my face with braces haha. And I have a bit of tummy roll going on in some. but overall for his first try with mers I think great!

I think the spotlights really made a difference along with our black back drop :) it was a lot to set up but worth it.

I have more from this shoot I'll show when I get them :)

A lot of the stuff from my shoot I'm still waiting on. But I did get back a couple of things..... The mermaid photos were more last-minute impromptu. The initial shoot was supposed to be for a historical costume, but since we were already going to be near the beach for them, we decided to do the mermaid ones to test out the jewelry.

The only way to gain access to the beach is through that tiny slit of light in the cave. Honestly, I was stupid to do it in a tail, but I couldn't pass up the photo op. My poor mom almost didn't make it in; the waves came and trapped her under the cave. She scraped up her arm, but was otherwise okay thanks to the tour guides. It was super scary though.

Yesterday I had my boyfriend take some photos of me in my second fabric tail for the first time! I like it a lot better than my first one haha.
Unfortunately by the time we got to get photos the sun was not in a good spot so it was shinning right in my face and making for weird colors in the photos, etc.

Yuba River, South fork. It's normally crowded with people, but we got lucky and the parking that was normally there was closed, so we parked on the street, hiked down, and had the whole place to ourselves. We would've swam underwater, but the water is snow run off and very cold.

Haha! Yeah it's pretty damn cold, especially after the first snow melt.
Even though I can dive right in, I can only be in it for 45 min to 1 hr at a time. Then I need to flop onto a rock and reheat myself like a lizard before jumping back in :lol:

Thanks! They were originally heel fins for the tail to go near the secondary dorsal, but I decided it would look too crowded. I really like how some of the silicone tops that have fins look, so I decided to try it out :)

Wetplate photography. No photoshop except for the logo. The camera used was from around 1850. So awesome! Had to sit perfectly still for 6 seconds.

Aw thank you Kalani <3 I've felt like a mermaid by heart since I could first swim, but it's quite recently I realized you can get yourself one of these beautiful tails... So now I'm saving up for a silicone one and maybe I'll try and make myself one out of latex as well...

I saw some people have posted none tail-pics here so I (hopefully) share one of me dressed as one of my mermaid idols for my last birthday party ^_^

Here are a few photos, and a link to a super quick snippet of video, of me in my gold tail today.
As you can see in the clip, this time the roles were reversed. The mermaid was tempted into the water from her sunny perch, by the adorable child. I wish the video could have caught the song she was making up, while hanging onto my shoulders, as I gave her a ride across the pool. I'm still not sure how I didn't just die from cute overload ;-D

About 2 days before attending a local sci-fi fantasy convention, I had the urge to create a new look for this tail, and get photos. So armed with the scraps from the creation of the tail, I whipped up a 1940s style "sunbathing dress", inspired by one I'd seen on Betty Grable.
Lucky for me, the hotel had a really pretty pool and my talented friend and fellow geek, Mary Anne Butler had her camera at the ready.
More photos are on the way, but these are the teasers she sent me this evening.

It has two raven heads on each end (Hugin and Munin). They are sort of my 'spirit totem'.

This was one of those beautiful moment. I was sunning myself on a quiet, deserted beach and this little girl came out of no where. She came running up to me with her jaw on the ground and then stopped dead in front of me, spun around and bolted back to her parents screaming (in German), and dragging her sister to come and see. Cutest little girls. I bet they never expected to see a mermaid on their Aussie holiday.30039

My friend, mermaid and cosplayer Reagan and I recently did a photoshoot together at our local zoo. We were extremely lucky to have this opportunity because they literally opened up the entire otter exhibit area to us one morning to do this in. I used to work for the company that owns this zoo, so we lucked out with this location! It is basically a large pool split by glass so it allowed for some great over/under shots. It also has a pier and some great foliage. What we wound up with was a wonderfully enchanted look. Granted...the pics were beautiful...but the conditions were most not! Ya'll do not want to know how bad it stunk in there and how disgusting that water was! I cut myself on the rocks and we were ate up by mosquitoes. BUT hey....anything for pics! LOL! :lol:
