The "I just had a photo shoot!"/sharing photoshoots thread!


We all love taking pictures of ourselves or others in-tail, and we all love sharing with others and seeing others share their photos! There's also that "I just had a photo shoot!" excitement where you want to share your new pics with everyone! This is the place! Just in time for the summer mer photo craze!

Please post no more than 5 medium-largish images per post, preferably no more than 10 per shoot! Link as many as you want, or use as many thumbnails as you'd like if your photo host provides BB coding for such.

Also a great alternative for sharing whole shoots is uploading to a photo host (such as Photobucket) and sharing the link for the whole album. Make sure to check your security on the album so everyone can see!

A great photo option that Facebook has is that if you go to the actual album and scroll down to the bottom, it will say, "Want to share your album? You can give friends or relatives this link:" and give you a URL below that. If you link or paste this to share anyone can see your album, even if they are not friends with you. They will, however, not be able to comment, like, share, ect unless they fit within your security parameters you have set for said album.This way you can share the whole album by linking! That will help save on scrolling within the pages of this thread as well as allow you to share as many pictures as you want!

Finally had a photoshoot with the AMAZING Larry Peters photography and let me tell you ladies it was worth it, the beautiful bra and belt and tail charm are from Patina and Lace on Etsy, and I have a Mertailor tail! This was shot a few weeks ago, I need to work on my face, but for a first try it came out great!

I did have some buttcrack problems but I sewed a belt into it and now it fastens snugly around my hips and Won't allow that area to upen up. I don't like high waisted tails, it takes allot of the sexiness of the body's curvature away and I can't have that as a model.

I completely agree with you, a lower tail looks very sexy! It also looks a bit more natural than a really high tail in my opinion :) (Although I can imagine a low tail for mermaids who perform at kids parties is a no-go ;))

That's pretty much what happened when I shot Titania! Had a little girl come through the willows, take one look at Titania, and began shouting "MOMMY! MOMMY! LOOK! IT'S A REAL MERMAID! IT'S A REAL MERMAID! I DON'T BELIEVE IT! IT'S A REAL MERMAID!" And the little girl was even wearing a Little Mermaid sweatshirt. Too bad she was too shy, as we offered to let her get a picture with Titania. Made Titania's day!

The last one was caught right as one of the many waves was crashing down on me. This was my first beach shoot (no idea why it took me nearly over 4 years haha) and I had an absolute blast doing it!

The next bit that I am just SO super excited about, is film and photos taken by Derek of Action by Derek Photography. If you guys have a spare moment, you should check out his website (actionbyderek.com (http://www.actionbyderek.com/))- he has some really amazing stuff! So we shot some video in Lake Crescent in WA, and then we shot in-pool! I just have a few pics that I've gotten back from him (the shoot was yesterday, so very understandable), but I LOVE them and I really wanted to share!

Thanks guys, i had another shoot yesterday of my white tail out of the water using a slow shutter. A slow shutter blurs anything that is moving and focuses on things that are still, we took my photos at a high tide with lots of waves so the water looks amazing! I cant wait till my photographer gives them to me.

So excited to show you guys these! Lake Chelan had it's first Pirate Festival, and I got to attend as a mermaid for the Jade Dragon Pirates with Oceana. Greg Amptman was there as well and the mermaids got to shoot with him in the beautiful clear blue (although freezing) lake! The pirate in one picture is Mister Mac! Here are a few pictures! Here's a photoshoot that I just had. The water was sooo inviting, but it was bloody cold. I really really wanted to go in, but had no way to warm up afterwards. Lemme know what you guys think!

I set up tripod and the shot.. told her what I wanted and got into position. She did an awesome job for me...

The color splashes are actually a classic thing to do. I must admit I was puzzled by the "copying" remark since it's been done a zillion times then some and is quite old. I still think it looks great though! I'm so glad you finally have some pictures to post of your mersona!

Im more concered with you know who.. copying it.. cause wellwe all know how he likes to do that but oh well we all know who started useing it here and fb firsti-ish :D

My shoot was for my intro studio clas anyways.. nto really a shoot for my self as a mermaid.but it worked out nicly... The idea was to show how mermaid part of me was bright and shiney and good while the rest of the mundane world was dull and colorless.. much like my real life at the moment ...
Since Im unemplyed the world seems rather ick at the moment..

This is a local model who is a friend of mine. She helped me with one of my biggest mermaid gigs this past summer, so as a thank-you we did a photoshoot with her as a mermaid. She has some of her own photos of just her too. It had to be photoshopped a bit because she is MUCH smaller than I am and the tail didn't fit. but she looks great

thank-you, to be honest I don't feel like these were my strongest photos. The girl is an extremely well known model so I was a little intimidated, also as you can see I've got a lot of accessories going on and she didn't haha but I didn't feel like I could strip down the way she did. In photos that are just me I was distracted watching my mertender help her get the tail on hahahahahah so I wasn't even cluing into my face XD

I just used my underwater camera for the first time (or rather, my sister used it while I swam around). Most of the photos came out looking doofy because I couldn't open my eyes well (the water is SUPER chlorinated) and couldn't orient myself to the camera. I also have to find a better way to control my buoyancy when I don't have my weight belt with me. ;-P

Nerine, it's doing pretty well, I'm a little worried because the belt seems to be pulling away from the shells in a lot of places. I'm not sure how bad that'll get. ;-P Right now it's just the sides, I'll let you know if it gets worse. I love being able to stay underwater rather than pop to the surface like I normally do. XD

Dry it out for a full day..
Get E6000 glue.
apply under the areas pulling away.

I was afraid that would happen.. I used a new method to make yours. It seems the silicone glue doesnt like the belting material.
The E6000 should fix it. If your not confiedent... ship to me and Ill cover the return shipping
