What is the best way for me to say this...

I've been around for a good while. I've seen a lot of this community's drama before I even knew of the Mernetwork. So, I do have a hunk of knowledge in my brain.

I think that what AbysmalMer was trying to say is, we as a community are quick to gang up on people. And I don't think many of us can deny this. I myself am even guilty of it! It's a ban wagon approach. One person will say, "So and so did this so I don't like them." Then the herd of others will side with that person, with their friends, ect. Then it's forums upon FORUMS of bashing one person.

For example, The Mertailor's new monofin. It's cool! I really think it is. But to say he ripped off Oceanika monofins? Really? That's basically like saying, everyone who is wearing a wedding dress ripped off David's Bridal. Or, everyone who is using a Mac computer ripped off Microsoft. Or even better, everyone who has a non-finis monofin is buying from someone who has ripped off Finis. Ideas come up, people like them, then someone goes, "What if I...." and makes something new/or even better.

But is that ripping someone off? No. That is innovating.

And I'm a bit appalled that so many of you, Iona and Raina too, are accusing AbysmalMer of being a certain someone. Not saying it COULD be but god, really? To press a verdict like that when the "IP came from Florida". Do you realize how many people on this site live in Florida? How many people overall live in Florida? To measure it down to that one person is not out of the question but a seriously biased assumption. I was ALWAYS told as a child to never "assume" because when "You assume, 'U' make an 'ass' our of 'me'".

Some people here honestly need to grow some scale on their tails and not get upset or bothered by every advancement in this community.

A certain member on this forum who was banned has made like 10 alt accounts the mods have to keep banning to try and attack Raven and I. Loads of stuff goes on behind the scenes, but the admins here just don't share it with everyone. Honestly, I think you're a part of this group, or someone who was given a line of stuff that can't be proven, just all "so and so said" who's been taken in.


And pretending and fake they are. IP says they're in Florida. Wonder who that could be?

Right there is PRETTY clear. Plus, you can go through the countless other posts of people making their assumptions over Iona saying that. I'm not sticking up for AbysmalMer. Just after seeing this account I've realized this happens frequently on the Mernetwork. A suspicious account comes up. One of the older members will say something. Then normally if you or Iona say something, everyone quickly jumps to your side and agrees with you no matter WHAT it is. That's what AbysmalMer is trying to say about "sheep". Not that it's your fault for speaking your opinion. I encourage that. But you, being a big mermaid on the Network have the power to persuade people's minds.

And what is frustrating me now is, you know this information about the Oceanika problem. This whole monofin thing. Yet you have said several times in this forum in the past two days that you know this "secret" but you can't tell anyone.


This is one of those situations where I know more than I should. I'm sure the community will speculate and drama will occur. But really the only thing that sets it straight is if both parties involved share their story. I'm sure Eric will/ has shared his judging by his post, and sometimes he'll email me to share his side. I just hope that if there is an issue with someone else they feel supported enough by the community to share their side too. The community isn't exactly known for doing that though. :/

But he's not the first or the last to make the fins only... many people besides Oceanika do, they just don't have the same publicity. It's kinda weird honestly that you're making so many assumptions when you can literally read what I said. There's nothing hidden or passive aggressive about it.

It feels like the childish game of "I know something you don't know!" You know, if it's top secret or something private, why do you tell people you "know" something, but can't tell anyone? I'm not asking you to tell people. I just think it's childish to post over and over that you know a secret but you're not going to share it. The more professional thing to do would to not say anything at all. It's not your business. Why do you have to butt into it? If you know something, great. Keep it to yourself until it becomes public like this situation. Don't publicly broadcast it multiple times so people keep asking you what it's about.

Ok, i need to stand up. You made a valid statement, Blondie, but trust me on this : you wouldn't be saying that if you knew. Because i got involved in this drama, Raina and i spoke to each other for the first time and she told me what was going on. It's way worse and bigger than i imagined, i even was speechless. I'm not gonna say anything either. There's nothing much that we can say or do unless Oceanika decides to share her side of the story.

What gets me is the generalizations. Not everyone is jumping on the chance to choose sides. Most of us are minding our own business. People like to say the Mernetwork community is quick to attack people. They also like to say that all of us follow everything a few particular users say. Honestly though, it's only a few people who participate in this stuff in comparison to all the active users who contribute here.

I joined another forum a few months ago for general pet rat care, and their forum is huuuuge. They have dozens of new threads created every day. I've seen a few times where a user said something stupid, and twenty people attack them out of nowhere. Some people might say that everyone on that forum is angry and crazy, but it's only a tiny percentage of the active population that said something nasty, and the rest are quite nice.

It doesn't matter what group of people you go to, people aren't always going to just get along. It's important to remember that it's not the end of the world when this stuff happens though. You can take sides if you like or decide that you don't want to interact with some users anymore, but please keep perspective, as most of us are pretty cool people to talk to.

I think people blow off steam which in turn allows them to LET go. And even though I don't like some of the stuff said about me/to me, I would much rather someone say what they think of me here like Blondie did, then pretend to be nice to me and talk shit behind my back. So even if Blondie and I butt heads. She has my respect for having the balls to say stuff to my face, be polite to me in other threads, and not emailing me like we're bffs lol <3

Okay, Raina. I see your point with trying to get others to help her bring the issue to the light. I just... Feel like it's very unnecessary to broadcast it over and over in the same forum. Wow... I'm still deeply insulted. That's not even an opinion, that's a personal attack and i'm not gonna answer to that. You seriously are doing this on purpose to draw drama and i'm not gonna play. If you have a problem with me, talk to me by PM but do not involve the people here.

That kind of seems like a hateful comment right there. He shouldn't have to change his humor or who he is to "be fine in your book", no one is twisting your arm and forcing you to read his comments or participate in his gif threads.

You don't need to have such a holier than thou attitude just because you don't like someone's humor. Like you said, "some of us like to avoid it", and you can just avoid it if you don't like it by not reading it. That doesn't mean everyone else should have to step on eggshells for it.

That's a pretty awful thing to say, Golden Pearl. French Merman is probably one of the nicest people on this forum. Slimy and negative are the last words I'd use to describe him. He stands up for other people, and always admits he's wrong when he realises it. And his sense of humour is funny to many of us, so please don't assume that just because it is not your way that it is the wrong way.

I am totally not interested in any back and forth Raina. The only adjectives I used were the words slimy and negative. Both words are still there exactly as I said originally said them referring to ACTIONS I personally avoid and thought he might want to avoid as well...not as a title. You repeatedly bring up other tail makers in a negative contrasting way in unrelated threads. You misunderstand postings of others, and choose to be offended by your misunderstanding of it, rather than what was actually said. You PM me to tell me that saying the letters "BS" is swearing. (it's not, if I wanted to swear, I'd say bullshit) but have edited your own comments when you've called French Merman names the second you were informed you could be banned or suspended for it. What it comes down to is this: if you don't like what I post, or you don't like what french merman posts, you can visit our mernetwork profile and add us both to your ignore list. We've broken no rules with our postings, and you have no right to tell either of us how to post- let alone in our own threads! Several times you've tried to redirect threads about other tail makers to mertailor and initiate an argument instead of making your own thread to compare whatever it is you want to compare. A few people have commented about the negativity and your tone surrounding your mertailor posts already in other threads, so before you start telling others how to act in the community perhaps consider what feedback the community has given you.

Either way, I have no personal issue with you, I just don't understand why you keep turning conversations around to certain things. If you don't like what I or someone else posts, then put us on your ignore list. If you feel a post breaks the rules, or I have name called or someone else etc then report the post by pressing the little ! button. You also need to understand, that people have free speech within the confines of the forum rules. I'm just going to come out and say it right here. I didn't wanna, but I need to get it off my chest.

I don't really like anything Golden Pearl has posted. Now, not all of her posts have been mean or negative, but quite a majority of them come off as quite rude. On the surface, they seem innocent enough, but there are just certain nuances and particularities about how something is worded and what is said that give it a bitter and slightly snobish undertone.

I hate not liking someone on here, I really do. I know I can't be friends with everymer here, but I wish I could at least tolerate the few I don't agree with. Though, with Pearl... I just... I can't deal with the rude, snobby responses. I can't remember who mentioned it, but you do seem to have a "holier-than-thou" attitude.

Mernetwork isn't any one mer's to dictate what can and can't be said. Like Raina mentioned, there is a freedom of speech here. Obviously with some common sense rules. If I wanted to, I could curse throughout this whole post. No one, execpt a mod, could tell me otherwise, but! But! If asked nicely to please refrain from cursing as it offends others or themselves, then I'd stop.

Threads also can be created how the poster wants. A later edit to fix things might happen, but you can't tell someone what to post or how to post it.

Now, to clear things up... I'm not 100% on Frenchie's side, either. I find him funny from time to time, but I've also seen posts by him that I found to be rude/offensive. Yet, he did apologise. Also, I have never really talked to him one on one, so I can't be a judge of his character. Would I like to talk to him? Sure! I'm always down for getting to know someone better and learn where they come from.

Wow, that comes off like you've been holding that in for a while. I'm sure it can be frustrating to have someone constantly posting something you don't want to read, but if it bothers you that bad, just block their comments. I have issues to share that are quite disturbing about a member of MerNetwork. I have asked for him to be removed from the group, but I cannot seem to get that done. Sadly, it is someone I have known for a while and many of us also know. Merman JR, aka Gary has recently been discovered stalking mermaids, indulging in VERY deviant behavior involving very young ladies and gentlemen...and it's just awful. He has been discovered stalking people for years, asking them to be his "Mermaid Mommy" and many other disturbing behaviors. I am trying to warn all here...and will share details privately. I'm really at a loss right now as to what I can do about a certain situation and I know I'm not on here posting very much but maybe someone on here can help me I hope.

I'm having problems with a certain mer person and I have tried everything but they just wont leave me alone. Ive tried to be friends with this person before and it didn't work and then I thought Myabe I could give it one more try and again it has blown up in my face. Why would my other career choices and personal life even need to be brought up?!

I personally think this is a bad idea. I think there is so much elitism and competition amongst mermaid tail wearing models. Now competition amongst tail makers too? I even see how Merbellas mutes the efforts of all other tail makers who are working their fingers to the bone...(at least on this forum). I do not think that such a title as BEST this or WORST that are a positive reinforcement in a community that claims to promote "friendly, community spirit". In the end, this all just encourages drawing of the battle lines and WAR as opposed to cooperation and positive community spirit. Perhaps it can be TEAMS of tail makers as opposed the ONE BEST. This might be better for preserving community spirit and positive energy in a world full of battles, competitiveness, taking the competiton down, corporate espionage, wicked competitive strategies of all negative sorts. I am all for a good competition but if we are trying to create a utopian, fantastical group spirit, I must say that this level of competitiveness and titles is actually VERY much in contrast to the Goddess spirit and very in line with the male, warring attitude which we are trying to avoid.

I am not questioning the fairness of judging Raina. I simply think that battles and competitions are not the best way of creating a utopian community experience that our community holds dear. My comments about energy were referencing the history of our planet. We had been peaceful, paleolithic Goddess worshipers before we transitioned to a culture of male Gods and warring later in human history. It sounds bitter to me, like she's had bad experiences with guys. Still no reason to bad-mouth any gender. Not all men are like that, (my husband, dad, and both brothers are proof of that) and I thought it was mean of her to say so. #1 the comment about how it will be a like a "cock fight"....it doesn't have to be. It may have a little bit of competitiveness and tension just for the sake that someone will be named "the best". BUT it doesn't have to be that way. I am sure that whomever enters will have someone in the crowd that will see the tail and think "Though it wasn't considered the best...I love it!". There will ALWAYS be loyal fans that would love to buy certain tails.

#2 "male minded female"....now this I'm not sure how to take. I, myself, can act like a male minded female most of the time. I belch loudly, make any and all perverted comments when necessary, and have no problem being bluntly honest though most hate it. I also get along better with most males than females because I can think like them. So I am slightly offended just for the sake that it hurt my feelings reading it. Just because I can think like a man doesn't mean I want to "whip mine out and measure".

#3 There's a simple solution if MerFest2015 is going ahead with the tail making competition...you don't like it....don't enter it. No one will force you to and no one will look down on you if you don't. Just bow out gracefully and wash your hands and have a good time. And if on the off chance a loyal fan asks "why didn't you enter?" you can simply say "I didn't feel like it".

you are reading way too much into this. It wasn't just Raina that thought your relating 'tailmakers putting there tails but for judging' was similar to that of 'a inhumane animal fight that people take bets on' offensive or insulting.
It would be a friendly competition, it's not like the tailmakers are going to run around with giant scissors to cut up each others work. It is a simple contest, like a cosplay contest. People work hard on the project, they put time and money into it, the pit it against other peoples work and a panel of judges make a decision on who's they like the best based on originality, similarity to concept, and quality of design. Tailmakers rarely work in teams as it is a case that they want to keep a consistence to their product. I'm sure if people wanted to enter as a team Christomer would accomodate. Think of the fin folk girls, if wouldn't be fair to exclude them because they work together.
Raina is not attacking you simply replying to what you have to say. Sean doesn't look agressive, it would be very hard to look agressive while holding a plate of grated cheese. The only one he looks agressive to is the poor cheese!

Give me a few minutes, I will present our side of the story since our name is being brought up here.

First off, I will just state the facts that we experienced since my husband was the first to put the tail on and swim. I also do not know of the conversation between Golden Pearl and Christomer, maybe my husband does because he talked to Christomer but I was not present for it.

Alrighty, Christomer had put that the tail was for sale a few days before merfest and since I secretly want to make my husband a merman ;) we asked for the details. I had seen Golden Pearl working on it throughout the forums and it looked pretty good for making a tail for the first time (something I don't know if I could do) So Christomer sent us some pictures saying it wasn't his size and that it needed some TLC. Ok, well I know my way around with silicone a bit, figured I could fix it up. Off to merfest we went and on one of the nights we went to the hotel pool where many others were gathered and began getting him into the tail. Since Christomer and my husband are a different size it didn't quite fit him too well either. But he managed to get into the tail. We noticed that some of the silicone wasn't cured in certain areas, glitter was coming off(my husband fears glitter, it gets on everything thing haha), and there were parts of the belt that had come off (I think this was velcro to close the belt around the waist) But he got in and swam around a bit. Because it wasn't his size he kept having to pull the tail up. Well after a few tugs he yipped and looked at his finger. It was bleeding. This happened a few more times until he got out and we all started looking for what could be the problem. We all meaning= Jesse, myself, mer-idian and her husband. We thought perhaps a piece of fiberglass was stuck in the silicone (I don't know what type of molds Golden Pearl used, but thats what I use so I just assumed) But it ended up being a needle. I won't lie I was pretty heated, I mean my husband bled...not cool. But I calmed down and he said it was probably a mistake and she could have forgotten that it was in there. (we have pictures if need be posted) So he pulled( and pulled and pulled and pulled) until it finally came out. So we went to Christomer to show him, he knew there were needles in it, apparently he pulled some out before giving it to us. The horror comes to me because I thought of Christomer's daughter whom is like my little sister being in a tail where there were needles present. I know she did not get hurt but still the thought..So fast forward, my husband and I get the tail because we think maybe we can take it in a bit and after trying to figure out a proper way to do this, we decided that we couldn't, so instead we would take the monofin out and start from scratch. Now my husband is an engineer its what he does for a living, he loves to take things apart and figure out a better way to make it work. Awesome (minus when its the toaster and I want toast..) We began to cut the monofin out carefully because we wanted to preserve Golden Pearl's hard work. When we got to the place where the monofin ends and the scales begin we found 4 more needles stuck in the silicone. When we got back from merfest I was really concerned and wanted to tell Golden Pearl but I held off because I don't like to stir up strife or offend but I finally mentioned that we had found some needles and she explained that due to the rush to get the tail to the Christomer before merfest she was not able to check for needles. This is our side of the story as a third party to clear up any confusion. I don't like my name being brought into discussions without me knowing and not giving my side. I'm not attacking Golden Pearl I'm not taking anyone's side. I'm simply stating the facts about what happened to the tail while it was in our possession.

uncured silicone basically means that the silicone was still sticky and having the consistency of really thick glue (just clearing this up for some who may not understand this part)
Yes the tail did not 'fall apart' but whenever there is uncured silicone involved it cannot function as the rest of the silicone or behave properly. Thus it deforms or loses its shape.

And like Raina said this is not to bash Golden Pearl or her style of tail making. I think its great that she wants to get into the business, I have yet to tackle the whole process of making a tail. It was her first time making a tail for a client (that I know of) and as many first timers there are certain things that need to be tweaked and made better. I'll call myself out, when I started making my silicone shell tops they were not to the best quality. But as I grew in knowledge and applied it I became better and better. I'm still learning and still striving to produce the best product. It is a learning process and I can understand that. I encourage Golden Pearl to continue making tails and doing her best, just next time (which I know she will) check for needles :)

Thank you so much for telling me what happened Hyli. I told Chris I thought I should hold on to the tail about a week to allow the final top coat to dry because I just put it on. But he wanted it by Merfest so I did ship the tail immediately before it cured for a week due to the rush. I told Chris to please check for pins bc I was so rushed I was sure I had missed a few. To sum it up. My first tail and I was forced to ship it off within 8 weeks and before the top coat cured or I could give it a last inspection. I wanted to honor the time line of making the tail and having it shipped within 2 months so that's what happened. I believe your description is probably very accurate Mermaid Hyli and I thank you for updating me on what happened.
I did not not believe it could have actually fallen apart because there were only 2 pieces. One 20 pound solid silicone scale sheet VERY THICK and SOLID like a TANK with a zipper up the back. And ONE 25 pound fluke of solid silicone. The only thing that I could imagine failing was possibly the zipper.

Change of subject....

My uncle, his wife, and two kids had that NASTY flu...idk what strain it is this year, but whatever...they got over it. But my grandma got it today. My mom talked to her at 7 this morning and she was fine. I talked to her at 10am and she said she didn't feel well at all. I checked in with her at 1pm and she was way worse, actually had to get off the phone because she was going to throw up. I called my mom at work to let her know. She immediate said, "She probably got the flu that David and his family had. He wouldn't listen when she said she didn't want to go out to eat because she knew he had been sick the week before"

Well at 9:30pm I called my mom's house and my dad said that she wasn't there...something about my grandma. So I called my mom's cell. She said that my grandma couldn't move and didn't want to be alone. so she went over there and just hung out. My mother is a teacher and has school tomorrow. She told me that she called my Uncle (he lives closer than my mom) but he was home with his kids and couldn't come. So he called my mom and told her to go over there.

My mom had to help my grandma go to the bathroom and as my grandma was leaning on my mom washing her hands, she literally slid down the length of my mom and fell to the floor. My mom couldn't lift her up and had to call my uncle. he was in bed and came over in 15min but only stayed to get my gma up and in bed and left again.

I am very disgusted with him at the moment. He owns his own business and winter is his slow time. Yet he makes my mom go over there to be with his mother. I understand he has two small kids but his wife was home at the time. I'm a little confused GP.....why would the tail need to cure for a week? Dragonskin will cure (based on the speed) within the time frame. For dragonskin 10 medium, that's five hours....for slow I think it's seven. If the silicone hasn't cured within that time frame, it simply isn't going to. The failure of silicone to cure is called cure inhibition. Once this has happened, there is nothing that can be done to fix it....you just have to remove the uncured/tacky silicone.

You really can't blame a deadline for uncured silicone on a tail. Even if you rushed to finish, I know you would have given the tail at least the 5-7 hours to cure before packing it in a box for shipping. It's likely that you ran into some cure inhibition issues....and considering some of the questions you have pmed me in the past, I think that is what happened. Waiting an extra week unfortunately would not have fixed the issue......silicone cures because of a chemical reaction and once the reaction has failed, there's just no fixing it. I could get into the nitty gritty of the chemical reaction and how it all works, but I think I would just bore everyone to tears. I ran into cure inhibition issues with my first tail.....it happens when you're learning!

An unhappy customer is always stressful, but it really think you're misdirecting your frustration and anger at other people. It's ok to make mistakes. I've made tons of them while making my tail! I think the problem here is really that you sold your first tail instead of fully testing the process and the product. You really can't expect that your first tail will be perfect, and selling your first one was bound to cause some problems. Getting a tail to fit yourself correctly is difficult....getting it sized right for someone else is really tough. Your first tail is a learning experience. The most important thing you can do at this point is calm down and try to rectify the situation.

I'm glad Jessica cleared up the cute issue. I was kind of confused by Pearl saying the top coat didn't have time to cure, because Raven top coated my tail in the morning and shipped later in the afternoon that same day and there were no issues; it was completely cured.

Either way I hope ChristoMer gets a refund or at least partial refund (anything that was charged over the cost of materials). Uncured silicone (and silicone that won't ever cure) and pins that are endangering to the customer throw out that whole "no refund" thing for any tailmaker who knows what's good for business IMO.

I don't doubt that christomer's tail cost a pretty penny to make....if it's 45lbs, then it likely took four gallons of silicone at least to make it. However, even though you're still learning, you still have a responsibility to provide a useable product that fits.

I don't know the whole situation, but I can totally understand how stressful it is to have issues with a tail. I had issues with my first one and that one was for me. It would have been much more stressful if my first tail had been for someone else. It's understandable that you would be upset that your tail didn't turn out as planned, but I really feel like you are really misdirecting your frustration towards Raina, Sean and other people on here.

I think you have an opportunity here to put a stop to all this drama and stand behind your work. If you want to build a good reputation as a tail maker, it's important to stand behind your product and do your best to resolve any issues. Why not consider repairing the tail so it will fit and fixing the uncured areas? You might also want to consider offering a full refund and then fixing the tail and then reselling it to someone else. Offering either of these options would show that you are willing to work with customers and stand behind your work. :)

Okay, so I've gotten reported posts from Pearl reporting Raina's posts and Raina reporting PMs from Pearl. So I'mm a just lay it all down and do this.

Golden Pearl's complaints via reporting posts:

1) Raina publically called me mentally unstable in several posts. 2) She also brought a private matter between myself and a client to public ridicule on the forum.

3) Raina is spreading gossip about me on a public forum

4) Raina discussed private email message I sent her publicly on the board without my connect.

3. I'm assuming you're talking about the tail issues. It's not gossip when there is proof and witnesses, and multiple people who were witnesses speaking about that subject. It's just people bringing their concerns to the forum. In the drama thread, which is the acceptable place.

4) This isn't against the rules here or anywhere else on the net. It's well known that if you don't want things you say in emails or PMs to be made public, don't send them. THINK before you type, because people all over the net for as long as it's been around have forwarded emails, screen capped them, copied text, ect and posted it to others or to the public. It's a fact of the internet.

ok... I am gonna chime in here...I normally don't like to get into the mix, and be friends towards everyone, but I have to speak up.....

First off, Raina is one of the sweetest people I am graced to know. I was having a really rough night at merfest, and she tried to help comfort me. For a good hr she talked and listened to me on the busride home. I was a mess, but she tried to help make it better.

Sean is a amesome man. he went out of his way to help people get in and out of tail, film people and just be an amazing person. when I was sitting alone at a table, he got up from sitting next to his girlfriend and came and sat with me so I didn't sit alone. That was unexpected, but thats the type of person he is.

Now to the contest... I would love to do it. I have no problems with some friendly competition. I make latex tails. They don't get as fancy as those silicone tails, but so what? I love making them. I learn more every time I look at other's tails. It inspires me with new ideas. something to try. If I lost, which chances are I would, I could care less. I love my tails. I love the work I put into them, and I hope others see that and so it will lead to orders. I am not looking to be big and famous making tails. But I do find it an honor to be "at the table" with the bigger names out there. it gives me the bragging right to say " I got in there with the big dogs and I got to show them the love I put into my tails!!"

Try to delete the old conversations... Copy them into a file on a thumb drive or something and then delete them from your account and hide the drive. From experience this is a good way to stop the hateful thoughts and doubts running rampant in your cortex. You won't be able to access the files and when you do find the thumb drive and look for what's on it, in the future, it'll all be laugh-worthy material. Bullying and behind the back phrases are never friendly things, but the important thing is to remember they haven't any grounds and never happened. Pretend it isn't happening and the people reading those things will stop believing them. When people ask about "is this true" or "did you actually do/say this" ignore the question, so you neither confirm nor deny. These are hard things, even when there isn't any other CRAP crashing towards you in life and I'm sorry it's hitting such wonderful people. As for "part of your culture" and a quick googling of the phrase that is so inherent in your upbringing that you had to look up it's etemology, who is trying to "impose" her "criterion" upon whom? Why didn't you just say "I told you so"? That would have been just as helpful.

Here's something my Mammaw would say that perhaps you should mull over its implications... "just because your name's Sugarfoot doesn't mean you can stick your toe in my coffee!"

If you can't help someone who is obviously having a construction crisis, perhaps you should limit your comments to critiquing episodes of Mako.

Really? My grandmother who loved me always told me "haste makes waste" when she thought I needed to take my time and be more careful. It is part of my culture and a perfectly positive encouraging comment

we have a similar saying for this in vietnamese, so i didnt see it as offensive or negative .__.

I think it was negative given the context of the original thread it was in. Rubbing salt in the wound of a failure. Just as the saying " told you so" would have been rude. But it was moved to this thread and now everyone is just moving on and laughing about dumb sayings. Always remember when things are moved to the drama thread they typically lose their context

I have exchanged very positive and helpful emails with Zen privately and I was totally encouraging when I told him to take his time and not be hasty. Imo it is unnecessary to speculate about the intentions of others when you can simply ask them what they meant. hth :D
