I don't know what five items you guys put in a magic circle to summon me back from the dead, but I'm about to get the realest of real here. (For those of you who don't know me, yo. I've been around a hell of a long time.)

First off, I've known Raina for what... six years now? This is the snappiest I've ever seen her. And she has good reason, to be honest. Although I can see how her reaction can be perceived as over-reactive and hostile, it comes from LITERAL YEARS OF CONDITIONING. I hate to say it, because I hate to be disparaging of anyone in our community, but Nerine has a distinctive habit of being inflammatory, inciting, and honestly downright irritating at times. Heck, she and a couple other users are a big reason I left Mernetwork for so long... I haven't posted in ~3 years. The unnecessary drama was just awful.

Now ya'll don't know me from Adam of the garden for the most part. I get that. Cool. But I spent what should have been a very enjoyable weekend at Merfest in a hotel room with Nerine, and I left feeling emotionally DRAINED from the tongue-holding I had to do.

(Nerine, did you ever pay Anita, btw? Don't answer that. I know you didn't. I'm surprised you payed Katherine (if you really did, I haven't asked her personally yet and I've heard varying reports). You were ever so quick to talk LOUDLY about how broke you were whenever I went to get food, and just as quick to talk LOUDLY about buying a new tail. Everything you do seems to be a waving of arms and thrashing of teeth in desperate hopes for people to pay you, and only you, attention. Thanks for all the help on Kat's tail, too OH WAIT NEVERMIND THAT WAS JUST ME AND EVERYONE ELSE IN THE ROOM. I loved having to pay for another room, too, since I expressly told you I'm very allergic to cigarette smoke and you still managed to keep the whole room smelling like it to the point where I WAS SICK FOR AN ACTUAL MONTH.)

I digress. Here's the point. If you haven't been around long enough to see the arduous, agonizing, teeth-pulling style half-cocked arguments that we have endured for no good reason other than argument's sake from this girl for actual literal years, then please do not chime in when someone finally has the APPLAUSE WORTHY GUMPTION to say she's had enough.

Now here's another thing. I'm a nurse. Specifically, I specialize in mental health. IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO THROW AROUND DIAGNOSES PLEASE JUST COULD YOU NOT. I don't give a rat's ass if you experience it yourself because, frankly, every single person's experience of a mental disorder is different, and throwing out diagnoses and suggestions of therapy and medication as a weapon in an argument (and that's exactly what you did so don't EVEN test me right now) without actual medical licensure and experience is not only a jerk move, it's actually dangerous. So don't. Just don't. I could diagnose Nerine with ten different disorders, half of which you've never heard of, so fast that I would make your pretty little head spin. But you know what? I can do that TO ANYONE. Everyone's got quirks, everyone's got problems, and everyone's got days where you've had your fill and a half of someone else's BS and they just can't take it so they snap. Raina snapped. She does not have a narcissistic disorder, she does not have delusions of grandeur (by the way please look that term up because I'm really pretty sure it doesn't mean what you think it does), and she does not need to be medicated for having a bitchy moment.

God knows Anita and Kat can tell you the fact that I got through that weekend without medication is a bloody miracle.

There are tons of things wrong with this whole friggin mess. I'm getting around to having a talk with those I feel that need it, handing out reprimands as needed.
But I wanted to say this publicly, as I have said before in the past, essentially making fun of or pushing labels of mental illness onto other members is ABSOLUTELY NOT OKAY. There are ACTUAL people, many on this forum who have mental illnesses (there's even a whole thread about it!) some of which include anxiety disorders and OCD. Labels like this are not okay to throw around or make fun of. This is an offical warning, anyone who does this again is going to get suspended at least. It's low and a form of ableism and I won't have it on my forum.

So, ignoring the folks who are just getting involved to prove how sassy and ~*edgy*~ they are (seriously, y'all are adults, the fuck is this middle school-level nonsense), I have to say that after listening to some folks venting, getting PMs and doing my own digging... I totally get why Raina snapped, and although I don't agree with the way the whole thing started, I can't say I blame her knowing the context of everything.

Nerine has a really bad history, and has rubbed a LOT of people the wrong way, both online and offline (holy crap at the MerFest stories)— and everybody, for some reason, has it in their head that when they have a problem with somebody in the community, they need to dump it all on Raina and expect her to do it. And from what I can gather, this happens with literally everything. No wonder she fuckin' snapped!

Do I think it could have been handled better? Absolutely— but then again, I'm not the confrontational sort and I try to make an effort to keep problems I have with people as private and civil as possible because I simply physically can't handle the stress. I'm not under the same pressure that Raina has to deal with all the time. I don't think this gives her a "free pass" or whatever some people are getting on with— clearly the backlash she's gotten is proof that people are willing to call her out for it. But a lot of folks who know a bit more about Raina and what she has to deal with in the community are a bit more understanding. She gets a LOT more crap than folks seem to realize.

This whole thing turned into such a goddamn mess and some things here I'm not even going to touch with a forty-foot trident. Just wanted to offer up my (more educated and contextually-aware) two cents.

On my end no excuse for being a dick. People gave me the feedback before that they didn't want me to get into stuff like that on the forum ( posting on behalf of others) along with not eluding that I know more than I'm letting on as it can be viewed as baiting. I really took that feedback to heart and try to work on that end of things. My patience just wears thin. Snapping is probably a good sign that I need to take a break.

Trust me, I totally get the feeling. I used to be the one in my circle of friends that we everybody went to to try and mediate things and it absolutely wrecked me. Raina, I hope that my opinion here doesn't come off the wrong way, and you have every right to disregard it if you choose. But I feel that if someone without your celebrity status had these same moments of aggression this often, they would be banned from the site or at least reprimanded for it. I know you don't care about what we MerNetworkers think, but if that's really true, I don't see why you're posting about it here. (It honestly hurt to see you say that, to be totally honest with you). I'm sorry if any of this hurts your feelings. I don't want that at all!! But I don't feel it's too much to ask that you treat people - even people whom you have every reason to dislike - with respect and civility so we can have just a little less drama on the site. ooookay... So I just finished off drinking my tea, took a deep breath and going to try to convey everything I need to, as carefully and non-confrontationally as possible.

I had pointedly avoided posting anything about nerine on MN but seeing as the matter has been brought up I should just clarify a few things:

- Nerine did pay me back (anita was just trying to get the money to me, she didn't owe anita, just me) but I ended up blocking her shortly after she finally paid me back (took a while) as right after she paid me she started telling me how she was going to make her own tail, and when I asked how she was going to afford it she told me she had a few grand in the bank.

Bear in mind we had gone out of our way to let her sleep in our room for a minimal amount as we thought she was in a really bad financial situation. Loads of people went out of their way to help her based on the fact that we thought she was struggling. She has since emailed me (accusing me of using people, and of being immature for 'hiding behind technology' - I blocked her to avoid screaming at her and wanted to let us both peacefully go our separate way) giving an explanation for that money that I'm not sure I can trust, but did say she got into the ball on the understanding that she would pay Christomer at a later date. You would have to check with him as to whether she paid him that money or not.

Before I made my decision to block her, I went to others in the community and asked if there was a history of similar behaviour and was told yes, there was. So I used that past history to inform my decision and reaction. My intention was to watch from the sidelines and keep an eye out to protect others from any similar behaviour, and that if I saw more like it, I would finally speak out having given a second chance.

What Calliope said about nereine's behaviour at merfest is true. She would switch from going on and on about her financial issues, food stamps being cancelled etc and then in the next breath say how she was going to commission a new tail. She talked nearly constantly, always about herself and would butt into conversations and make them about her, often saying things like her way was the only way, would constantly be incredibly rude and not let others get a word in edgeways. She wound everyone up and left many of us biting our tongues but be clearly oblivious to the frustration and sometimes anger of those around her. my general impression from my time with her at merfest was that she means well, like really has the best of intentions but just seems to lack some important social skills.

She made Caro sick (nerine didn't smoke in the room but brought enough of the smell and such into the room on her persona and with her boxes of gear that it affected caro badly), and I thought her and Anita were going to come to blows on the saturday morning.

(Anita tried to be quick by climbing into the back of nerine's car between the front seats, which I can understand being annoying/upsetting as the car meant a lot to nerine but she snapped at Anita so badly that Anita just snapped back and told Nerine a few choice words. Anita wasn't well at all and was going with me and nerine on our trip to Michaels [nerine needed supplies and so did I and kudos to her she got us a sizable discount at michaels] so we could stop off at target for some stuff anita needed to feel better. Anita had been up til 3/4am working on my tail [we got told off for keeping nerine up btw] and I'd had no sleep at all. Most people would have cut anita a break or at least asked anita not to in a normal/non-confrontational way. Also note we were trying to be quick as we wanted to get done and be back in time to see hannah's talk and performance) - I ended up so stressed by this whole thing that it triggered my IBS which then left me having to stay in the hotel room until Caro came in search of me, by which time I had missed hannah's talk, her performance and the fashion show. Some of the main things on at merfest. On the plus side I got the other side of my fluke painted while I waited for meds to kick in.

Once I got to the pool there was a group shoot happening, I still felt like shit because of being ill, missing everything, not sleeping and major tail envy as my tail wasn't ready. Nerine then was asking me to get her drink for her as she was in tail in the group shoot. Fair enough. I fought through a throng of photographers to go look for her bag to get her drink and then tell her I couldn't find it. She then rather than saying 'nevermind i'll have to get it in a bit' or saying I could try again in a bit when the coast was clear, she basically expected me to fight my way back through twice more to go get the drink, and then all over again to put the drink back. In the end I gave up after putting the drink back and walked round to the far corner of the pool and sat there and fought back the urge to cry.

I tried to be calm and understanding with nerine as I have some other friends back home who can wind me up in similar ways through temperament and their social skills, but the difference being that they are not rude with it unlike nerine. But still I'm a peacelover and tried to give her more chances to redeem herself and generally just try to get through the rest of merfest peacefully. I hate conflict. Like I'm phobic of it. (which is part of the reason why I chose to just block nerine rather than confront her)

My general impression from nerine once we got through merfest, was that she had an expectation of people going out of their way to help her (and offer little to no thanks), and that if they didn't she would be likely to guilt trip people with more 'woe is me' stories. I also honestly was thinking I wasn't going to see the money she owed for the room. But I did after some delays thankfully.

Now whether nerine's explanations to me about the money were true or not, doesn't really matter to me in the long-run anymore. It's the sum of all her behaviour that means I keep her blocked on social media and why I am explaining all this now. If the explanations are legit then alls well and good and she can just hate me and rant at me for posting the above, I can deal with that. But if they're not legit or if she pulls similar shit on others in the future, there is now at least an open record of her behaviour to put others on their guard. And if by chance this post manages to protect someone in the future then it's all worthwhile to me.

as for the controversy over the original comments that triggered this whole debate:

- Yeah maybe Raina seemed to overract and snap but with nerine's past behaviour it can be understood, and yeah maybe in the future raina can try to work on her temper and the way she approaches things. But she snapped. And it was a case of 'regardless' of the advice that nerine gave, raina wasn't being ungreatful just reacting to the latter accusations that nerine made.

- Raina was also right in regards to pulling up on the fact that nerine was the only one saying that everyone was attacking all of Jesse's tails. Raina had said nothing beyond discussing HER tail.

- also to prove I'm not just blindly siding with Raina like I'm sure people will accuse me of, nerine defending jesse against unsaid general attacks could be comparible to how Raina would defend raven's work. So I can understand why nerine might say what she said to try to defend her friend and tailmaker. Just like Raina would. But Jesse's not exactly in many people's good-books right now and it's important for future customers of ANY tailmaker, that previous customers share photos and stories about how their tails hold up. Yeah it's an early tail but there's also been more recent issues that keep it relevant. PLUS Raina's initial post I actually found quite useful and helpful in giving me ideas on how to fix broken tails and to repair/fix older silicone that's beyond it's green period.

- This whole thing would have just been a post about repairing an old worn out tail if it weren't for nerine coming in and making a big fuss about something that wasn't even happening.

- Venessa really really wasn't being helpful or constructive with her comments, honestly you have to remember that more often than not sarcasm doesn't convey via text and as a result can make you just seem like an ass and just a huge troll. Which based on your replies I'm starting to think you actually are. Even I take offense at your comments about mental health and medication whether you meant for them to be offensive or not. And bear in mind that people remember these things and it will temper their view of further posts, just like happened with nerine in this whole thing.



Anyways. There's probably more points I could make but honestly there's not much point. And I'm already posting a novel as it is lol. Please excuse the length of this and brownie points to those who actually read this far, hopefully it all made sense xD

Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm not posting this to be vindictive btw, it's not in me to be like that. I wish the best for Nerine. Just wanted to clarify some points that were made, some that were wrong, and also to have this out there to -potentially- protect others.

I have been around long enough to see loads of people write a bitchy post many times without issue. If it was someone else, no one would care the way they do when it is me. They might write one sentence and move on. I think the community needs a reminder of what actual bullying is. Bullies have always been banned and I have endured loads of it on here without making a peep and nothing but mild warnings if at all. An unpopular opinion, a bitchy post, or even being rude is not the same as bullying. I feel like that's what people cry when they don't like something and on other forums you'd simply be told to leave if opinions bother you. And I'm not saying that directly TO you, just in general. I don't call people names. I don't follow them around here or on fb, stalk them, gossip, or try to convince others to hate them or treat them poorly. I don't lie about others. I don't make alt accounts to harasss people on here or on facebook or pretend more people agree with me. I don't call people out on my 34000 fans fb page. But there are people here who have done all of that to me. And thats bullying. And i just accept it and do my best to ignore it. There's people here who their majority of their postings are that, or the main reason they come on the forum.

Sorry but getting pissed off with people a couple times a year isn't bullying. Your post doesn't hurt my feelings you're entitled to it but I think it comes from a limited perspective which is why I don't care a lot of what others think. In life you can't lose sleep over people who haven't had your experience or see the whole situation and their opinions. Or people you know are going to hate what you say regardless just cuz it is you.

Thanks anna.. I was shocked to see my post was moved here. I was only trying to be helpful. AS sewing and all she did was A LOT of work. SO I was suggesting an easier fix since I had a similar rip due to some sharp roots at three sisters springs last year.

I don't know what five items you guys put in a magic circle to summon me back from the dead, but I'm about to get the realest of real here. (For those of you who don't know me, yo. I've been around a hell of a long time.)

First off, I've known Raina for what... six years now? This is the snappiest I've ever seen her. And she has good reason, to be honest. Although I can see how her reaction can be perceived as over-reactive and hostile, it comes from LITERAL YEARS OF CONDITIONING. I hate to say it, because I hate to be disparaging of anyone in our community, but Nerine has a distinctive habit of being inflammatory, inciting, and honestly downright irritating at times. Heck, she and a couple other users are a big reason I left Mernetwork for so long... I haven't posted in ~3 years. The unnecessary drama was just awful.

Now ya'll don't know me from Adam of the garden for the most part. I get that. Cool. But I spent what should have been a very enjoyable weekend at Merfest in a hotel room with Nerine, and I left feeling emotionally DRAINED from the tongue-holding I had to do.

(Nerine, did you ever pay Anita, btw? Don't answer that. I know you didn't. I'm surprised you payed Katherine (if you really did, I haven't asked her personally yet and I've heard varying reports).I was told to pay Kat. I paid her when I had the money. Now here's another thing. I'm a nurse. Specifically, I specialize in mental health. IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO THROW AROUND DIAGNOSES PLEASE JUST COULD YOU NOT. I don't give a rat's ass if you experience it yourself because, frankly, every single person's experience of a mental disorder is different, and throwing out diagnoses and suggestions of therapy and medication as a weapon in an argument (and that's exactly what you did so don't EVEN test me right now) without actual medical licensure and experience is not only a jerk move, it's actually dangerous. So don't. Just don't. I could diagnose Nerine with ten different disorders, half of which you've never heard of, so fast that I would make your pretty little head spin. But you know what? I can do that TO ANYONE. Everyone's got quirks, everyone's got problems, and everyone's got days where you've had your fill and a half of someone else's BS and they just can't take it so they snap. Raina snapped. She does not have a narcissistic disorder, she does not have delusions of grandeur (by the way please look that term up because I'm really pretty sure it doesn't mean what you think it does), and she does not need to be medicated for having a bitchy moment.

God knows Anita and Kat can tell you the fact that I got through that weekend without medication is a bloody miracle.

Id sure like to know about the freebies she keeps talking about.. and how am i use people. I hate asking for help. Detest it to the fullest. I was contacted by some of your roomates after merfest and a lot of what they told me, and a lot of what I personally endured at merfest with her is part of why I just couldn't keep this in anymore. I think Kelda summed it up nicely for me. I've snapped. I've gone full on hulk Raina. Raina smash. enough is enough. I really really hope the others post their own stuff. It's very hard for me when I know all this extra stuff and it influences how I feel on mernetwork but I'm not in a position to say anything. It makes me look like I'm making shit up. Personally for me I was really upset to constantly here "I don't care what anyone says I love my jesse tail!" over and over when 1) nobody said anything about Jesse, or the tail, or did anything to make her feel uncomfortable about her tail and 2) there were multiple mers there tailless or with thrown together tails because their Jesse tail fell apart. Not just christian. It was like a slap in the face to them. I was also frustrated that after all the freebies she was let into the dinner/ball for free when most of the merfest staff and workshop people had to pay. That combined with all the complaining online and asking for handouts every other day really got under my skin. Because we have all been there. But we don't all ask for handouts and then after we get them post the new art supplies we bought, or boast about the tail we're gonna buy. I also had an incident where I was super sick after being injured, sitting trying to catch myself (thanks to Dottie who gave me some meds) and she came over, no hello, no how are you, no I'm nerine, and just started complaining to me about her PAST illnesses. I was trying not to vomit from feeling unwell and I just looked up and saw this. I had to block her on instagram OVER A YEAR AGO because she kept tagging me in unrelated things and spamming up my feed (even if you dont follow someone if they tag you stuff would still show up) and she screenshot it a year later and put it on instrgam. Then I get never ending twitter messages about it. Then since we got back from merfest if the tiniest part of her body is in my photos or videos she's spamming all over them. I think it's kinda cute or funny to say "hey that's my arm" but when you go crazy with it over a period of weeks, it just looks well.. crazy you know?

You can all hate me for hulking out. But just as some of you are pissed off at me for how I handle myself on the forum (and believe it or not I do try to work on myself when you say this stuff. I dont claim to get it right. But I do actually listen and consider what i should be doing and shouldn't be) but the fact is, you have a right to call me out on it and critique my behaviour in the same way I have a right to call her out and critique hers. It may seem like an out of nowhere post to some but to a lot of people it isnt. I was trying to avoid making a big personal rant in the first post. As a social smoker, I always inform people that I do smoke, if I'm going to be staying in a room with them. Regardless of whether or not I intend to smoke while away. Cigarette smoke sticks to clothing and belongings (bags, luggage, etc) and can for a few months after they were subjected to the smoke. Non-smokers and persons sensitive to smoke are much more aware of it.

If you smoked in your car during the ride up then the inside of your car would have smelled strongly of smoke and so all your belongings would've too. And being that it was/is winter in the states you would've had your windows either not wound down or only opened a crack - so it would've been quite strong.

So while the information about allergies may not have been provided, you didn't provide any either.

Hope I didn't startle anyone ;) I use to do suspensions a different way that suspended the user but didn't show that they had been suspended (banned temporarily) just by looking at their posts. But people thought that I never did these suspensions becuase of it not showing like that, so I'll be doing it this way from now on. Just FYI! This leaves me wondering about the items she sells on her Etsy. If the scent of cigarette smoke was that strong on her that someone had a reaction to it, I have to question the state of some of the clothing items on her Etsy— are they made in her home? Do they smell like cigarette smoke, too?

It has me wary, because there's at least one item on her Etsy specifically labelled as "Made in a non-smoking environment"... But nothing else has that sort of disclosure. Even if these specific items WERE made in a non-smoking environment, are they still stored there? Or are they stored in her house, which I'm led to believe IS a smoking home? Even if it was made in a smoke-free place, storing it somewhere that's been exposed to cigarette smoke, even in a packed box, can still get that smell. And Febreeze doesn't always get it out!

I'm concerned, mostly because I have asthma that's triggered by cigarette smoke, and I've ordered items online— etsy being one of them— that were unusable because the smell of cigarette smoke was still clinging to them. One of these was a costume mask that I tried on and immediately had a severe asthma attack in.

We would often tinychat together and I would watch her working away at it. There was one time where she was at walmart getting the supplies like the top she was going to use, and she called me up to verify which top would be best.
She also sent a few other items along with it, and none of them smelled like cigarettes. Not even the top. I can't really speak for other people, but the stuff I received smelled fine.

My worries are he won't be able to afford the shipping to get it to him. He paid his deposit, and work had begun. Right now I am stalled due to below freezing weather and my in the house space taken over by the owner of the home.

But as of right now he has been quite nice about everything even the delays. I can't complain about him so much as a customer, although reading what i have has but me in creeped out mode.

Ok. I wonder why it took so long to give this update.
Because Matthew notified on his Facebook that he quit two months ago. Must have been serious.

I know I had issues with Mertailor in the past - as I didn't agree to a lot of his ways to do business - but I gotta be honest here, as much as I feel weird to admit it, I sympathize now. It's gotta be tough to end, what, 4 to 5 years of history? Although he seems to be okay from the photos he's sharing on his page.
