NerineArcticMermaid

I have a quick question, as this is something that's been bothering me for a while after reading some of Nerine's responses.

Nerine says that from the time she got to Merfest, to the time she left, she didn't smoke... But still, the smell of the smoke was so strong on her that it was making somebody sick. Having grown up in a smoking home, I'm familiar with the way that stench can cling to EVERYTHING and how difficult it is to remove that from items and clothing that have been exposed to that sort of environment.

This leaves me wondering about the items she sells on her Etsy. If the scent of cigarette smoke was that strong on her that someone had a reaction to it, I have to question the state of some of the clothing items on her Etsy— are they made in her home? Do they smell like cigarette smoke, too?

It has me wary, because there's at least one item on her Etsy specifically labelled as "Made in a non-smoking environment"... But nothing else has that sort of disclosure. Even if these specific items WERE made in a non-smoking environment, are they still stored there? Or are they stored in her house, which I'm led to believe IS a smoking home? Even if it was made in a smoke-free place, storing it somewhere that's been exposed to cigarette smoke, even in a packed box, can still get that smell. And Febreeze doesn't always get it out!

I'm concerned, mostly because I have asthma that's triggered by cigarette smoke, and I've ordered items online— etsy being one of them— that were unusable because the smell of cigarette smoke was still clinging to them. One of these was a costume mask that I tried on and immediately had a severe asthma attack in.

Maybe I'm wrong about Nerine in this instance— personally I don't know her from a hole in the ground— but I feel like if the maker is a smoker, that ought to be disclosed somewhere... For the sake of the health of the people who may be buying.

Not trying to start anything, it's just a concern I've wanted to voice for a while, and not just because it's Nerine, but because it's a topic I've been worrying about in general.

Sorry if I'm not making much sense, I'm typing all this on my phone and tend to get my words jumbled. :P

Valid questions that Im happy to answer. Firstly I don't smoke much(pack a week and trying to quit). ANd definitely don't smoke in my studio. Once an item is completed its packed immediately. All the costume items had been freshly washed before being stored in a space saver vacuum bag.. and washed and repacked for shipping once sold. I don't add the disclaimer anymore just incase smoke from earlier in the day follows me. I do what I can to minimize the issue.

Honestly I smoke so little my coworkers are shocked when they find out i do.. I dont smell of it to most people.. Im a one or 2 cigarretes a day if that person. As I said Ive been trying to quit which you know isnt easy.

Since you have mentioned it as a concern I can put a disclaimer but my studio is ventilated separately due to the paints and other fumes from crafting and painting. None the less... I will make the adjustment just in case.. I do not wish for anyone to come to harm from ill habits.

It appears we shall soon have a new term for this board: SHANNON BANNED!

(...That is, of course, a reference to the common Nintendo term Gannon Banned, referring to very-common errors such as spelling Ganon with two "n"'s or referring to Samus Aran as Metroid....)

...

In other news, I may look up Reign, for I shan't judge Kishiko despite seeing royalty further and further misrepresented in the modern world....:no-no::thumbdown::jester:

Your honour, let the record clearly show that Theta asked for this...lol

Actually, I'm a small part royalty myself (Dutch; descended from the von Vieregge line, to be precise). I've only recently begun to read up on such things since a couple of wonderful Roman Catholic friends of mine helped me to stop feeling ashamed of it.

I'm trying so hard to laugh because I know you're joking.... But I really have dealt with people who show up to events and legit think that Reign is 100% accurate. And it physically hurts at this point, mainly because I'm trying so hard to not punch people in the throat I'm getting an ulcer. :eye twitch:

What cracks me up is MQS's life really was full of drama, like, way more dramatic and dangerous stuff than what's on Reign.... And it's somehow all thrown to the wind. I mean, her own cousin ended up killing her after she went through three(?) failed marriages and a bunch of bitchy courtly drama.

There's no shame in royalty. You're born into whatever family you're born into :) (Same here! The royalty in my lines are waaaaaaaay back, though, closer to the medieval era. There is allegedly some Dutch royalty more recently (direct line from William the Silent) but I think that info is based on an inaccurate source, so I don't count it.) Since my royal antecedents are in the female line, people just kind of wound up mucking around in the nobility. Then the came to North America and colonized New York and Massachusetts. And here we are. I'd love to hear about your lineage sometime :)

Have you tried ancestry.com? It's a pretty good starting point- you can do a free trial of the world records membership or whatever it is for a month. You might have some good luck in immigration records, they might point you in the direction of a country or region if nothing else. Although outright surname changes could be tricky :/

I'd disagree. The royal house I'm descended from were pretty bad at the end. A bunch of degenerates at several points (although I'm a degenerate myself, so.... lol) and pretty much the people who made Iranians weakened enough that they collapsed like a house of cards to the invading Arabs. So, there's some shame in that royalty. Although my guess is European royalty never did the things my own line did (let's leave it at "why god would you do that? this is not GoT" and call it quits there. lol)

Raina, thank you for making that "Royals" reference; I only learned of Lorde's existence when she gave the unique sound to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1: The Misuse of St. Therese of Lisieux's Shower of Roses Imagery and thus was unfamiliar with that cool song. I dub thee Canadian Mermaid Queen! Of course, the formal ceremony will need to be conducted in person and underwater (perhaps when I've my tail and top and we meet up).... :mermaid kiss: :pearl:

OceanWhisper, thank you for the Weird Al parody! That was funny and entertaining! :mermaid kiss:

JamesGunnels, my royal blood is sufficiently diluted that I'm not called upon for any royal duties, so can't really be thought of as a pain in my case. Generally people just comment on my grace and bearing, though a close friend's fiancee has recently lent me some 'light reading' (Nobility and Traditional Elites in the Allocutions of Pius XII) to help me better understand my duties in a Roman Catholic context. :mermaid kiss:

Anahita, I might have suspected broaching the subject would invite those of us with royal ancestry to have an online princess party (it fits so well with our mermaid interests), and I welcome it! I'm sorry things went so badly with your ancestors; monarchy isn't a perfect system, but it's the best we've got (except maybe democracy or the Judges from the Bible....). Your story intrigues me, however.... :mermaid kiss:

SeaGlass Siren, you are cute and sweet and lovely and I still say you look like a mermaid princess! :mermaid kiss:

Theta, I assume that by William the Silent you mean William I of Orange, but he's not talking. #UltraDoomPun I'm still doing a bit of research into my own royal blood, for I had mixed feelings about it most of my life due to being brought up amidst post-Revolutionary ideals (though being descended all the way from the United Empire Loyalists helped counter that a bit) and, um, apartheid. I shall be happy to fill you in more later! :mermaid kiss:

Not necessarily. We we made it pretty obvious that there was another user with that name. She wouldn't need to know anything about the old Esther to tell us she's not the same person.

Sometimes some kids, especially in the past 10 years or so, don't have the same sense of danger (ie common sense) that the rest of us have. A year or so ago a 14 year old boy posted his home address and his parents jobs on the FB fan page for Jason Hawes (TAPS). I screencapped it and replied to him that he shouldn't post that. he said he wanted to see how close he and Jason were. I said it was a really dumb thing to do, that it was super dangerous. He suddenly edited the original post and the next response was his mom trying to rip me a new one, how her son was innocently talking to someone he is a fan of. I asked her nicely to message me from her own account, imagine her surprise when I showed her the screencap. She had no idea that her precious speshul snowflake had not only provided their address but the information that one could easily use to determine when the family was not home. The boys account was closed within the hour

Biblical prophecy really is rather intriguing on this point. Peter writes of a fire that will "burn up the elements", allowing for everything from the Sun's expansion into a red giant to a far-sooner end via nuclear holocaust.

On that second note, John of Patmos is very clear about the name of the "star" in Revelation which falls and bursts to poison the surrounding waters. It's name is "Wormwood"; or, in a Ukrainian dialect, "Chernobyl".... :jawdrop::thinks::eye twitch::sweat drop::help::hail::readtherules:

that might have the possibility of 'starting' something (considering how often that can happen with touchy topics.) it might be better if you google that yourself? that way you can decide on your own and learn and there would be a less likely hood of it POSSIBLY turning into some type of debate.

MermaidMichelle

Sia, do you want to burn a snowman? #Frozen ;)

PearlieMae, you may take your pick. I have recently written a book which is in part on the subject of differences in Bible translations and how they sometimes stray significantly from the original Hebrew/Greek, but upon that particular issue they tend to agree. Of course, when it comes to the end of the world, the footnotes often tend toward assuring the reader that it will not be any time soon and that even if some of the events in the Holy Bible Book of Revelation may have come to pass, that doesn't mean that we can expect the finale to come shortly.

*Ignores the fact that Pearlie just quoted what was coincidentally my 666th post....*

They are a Christian company. Nothing wrong with being open about their Christian beliefs. I love the fact I can go into a store and actually hear Christian music playing. The very reason I do shop there since I am Christian and love God and have no shame in it. I support companies who support our maker and aren't afraid of faithless ignorance spreading like wildfire. I went to Christian school and grew up in church and it's so sad to see this world turning to mush and so hateful because God is being banished from the very world he created. I'm sure he cries for his children everyday.

"Faithless ignorance"? "Turning to mush"?

I wasn't aware that people wanting equal rights for those who live different lifestyles and share different religious beliefs meant we were turning the world to mush in favor of faithless ignorance.

You learn something new everyday, I guess.

I hope this doesn't turn into drama! I see where she is coming from, I'm a christian as well. However I am also a gays rights activist, feminist, and just for equality in general. The bible even says you shouldn't eat shellfish! Come on now I'm not skipping out on my shellfish ;) I do however think it's great they play Christian music and aren't afraid to show how religious they are, Christians shouldn't be afraid to show who they are as well! But in the end it's just all about loving one another!!

Now back to accessories, I'm tempted to make an abalone top, but I'm not sure how haha! Trial and error I guess!

Look at the world. Look at the way it was a long time ago. Nothing like it is now. People constantly straying from God and what the Bible says is Wrong and people honestly believe God will accept what man thinks is right.....uh no. God doesn't bend the rules for man. You don't see the government getting rid of speed laws because we think we should be allowed to go whatever speed we want. Rules are there for a reason. God's rules are no different. He's protecting us from hell. We better be glad he's more merciful than he used to be or lots of us would be struck dead by now for our faithless ignorance yes. Implying just because You think it's right and should be allowed doesn't mean God will change it to be ok. He doesn't overlook things that are wrong. He put it in the Bible for a reason and clearly stated where you'll go if you choose that path. I feel sorry for those people and I won't turn my back on God and pretend it's ok to please anyone. As Phil Robertson says political correctness is a load of crap! That's not "different" because it's a choice. Special people and disabled people are what we call different but they can't help that and that is an example of people we accept and give equality to because they didn't have a choice. They can't help it but we need to treat them the same. But Sins are choices and shouldn't be treated equally according to the bible because it's not right. Sin is a sin no matter how it appears. If someone murdered your family would you accept that person and treat them equally as your best friend? No. All sins are equally bad. We can't change how God views it

For the sake of civility, I won't be engaging with people who believe that my lifestyle and how I was born is a "Sin" and "Faithless Ignorance" by a God who I was raised to believe cared about all of his creations and supported love between people in all its forms.

Bible also says that I should be regularly making cattle sacrifices in my yard throwing blood everywhere and then burn the body because that smoke is gonna make him happy. and then do the same thing with sheep and then with a bird, there is a lot of that in the first part of it.
Then we have how dirty women are in general because of periods. How sex is dirty. If guys "go" then they need to go find some birds and do some more sacrificing.
Then you have shit about people being clean or unclean and screw taking them to a doctor, we'll take them to a priest and he will determine if they can still live in the camp
We have this nice bit about who you can and can't have sex with, even though the bible is full of incest and polygamy.
Then we have fashion advice and stay away from polyester. talk about some jew curls. get disgusted by tattoos. Kill anyone who disagrees with their parents and a bunch of other people for having sex.
Priest are then asked not to marry prostitutes or divorce their husbands (I guess the priests are allowed to be gay) and they must have the long flowing locks of a man who doesn't cut his beard.

And then if you don't follow all this, God's gonna kill you. Painfully

If you support the whole notion that being gay is a sin and as that's in the book of leviticus, then you obvious support all the other parts of leviticus (ie the aforementioned). Because I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to go through the bible and pick which parts you want to follow.

So if you aren't making regular sacrifices to God and spraying animal blood all over the place and throwing the ashes in a particular direction (based on what animal it is) that sin is as bad as being gay in your book.

This is a community where we are lesbian, gay, bi, pan, asexual, intersex, genderfluid and everything else in between. and if you don't fall into the many categories, you support them. because that's what we do.

Hello everyone!

I am a professional mermaid living and working in England - I'm interested in investing in some air hoses for long performances - any ideas on where I can buy some? So far google has not come up with anything - perhaps there's a technical name for them that I'm unaware of?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank You!

This person is Barbara Wynns, former weeki wachee mermaid. I'm pretty sure this was the same person I heard about that was telling people at one of the mer conventions how very dangerous it was to use these.

Use these kind of hoses as your own risk, folks. Scuba divers die all the time, even ones with years of experience, even instructors. Air hoses like this use the same principle, but with a more difficult and hazardous setup. A lot more can go wrong when it's a hose, rather than something strapped to your back and fixed in your mouth (with gauges you can constantly check and other safety measures). Just think about if it's really worth it to use that for a performance, instead of just freediving like the aquarium mermaids/performers do.

This is so true. It's something you learn during a scuba course, and I read articles and hear stories about experienced divers dying every so often. Not to mention, normally when using a hookah rig (like for tank maintenance) you'd be breathing continuously through the regular, but mermaid performers like at Weeki Wachee only breathe from the hose periodically. If you do a maneuver like that, you MUST exhale slowly and continuously to avoid lung overexpansion injuries. But even if you know to do that, it's hard to know how much to exhale, how quickly. You won't be able to feel your lungs overexpanding until too late. I'm a certified Divemaster with a lot of experience and a high comfort level, and I still wouldn't be too keen on trying it, honestly. The performers who use the air hoses in that fashion are very thoroughly trained in that specific setup and I am pretty sure they always have safety divers in the water as well.

Raina, it's true that you can't buy air fills for scuba tanks without a scuba certification. However, in most cases these hookah hoses are connected directly to an air compressor, and you don't necessarily need a certification to buy one of those.

You should not do this without professional training. It isnt the kind of thing you just pick up and do. Aquariums and weeki have a lot of training before mers even get to use them. Barbara one of the early weeki mers told us horror stories at merfest. You can seriously harm yourself.

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Melody Craven. I am best friends with Barbara Wynns and Allen Sherrod as well as the 3rd partner in our business together. That said - You have every right to be concerned with the welfare of the people that you care about, however, you do not have the right to tell people false information. Just so that you know, Barbara is aware of your statements here in this forum and is not at all happy. Nor am I. I was with Barb and Allen at MerFest. I was there with them the entire time. Allen and I know her better than anyone and I can tell you that she has never, NEVER told you or anyone horror stories about the airhoses. She has never in her 50 years with Weeki ever said anything that would every constitute anyone calling her stories horror stories. She may have only said that there may have been a few challenges with them or that you need to be properly trained to use the hose, but that would be the extent of her stories of Weeki. (air hoses)

What this comes down to is that you are using her name and status to further your platform and dislike of the product that we and others with similar products are selling and that will not be tolerated. You spreading lies about what she has said, is a direct attack on her prestige and sacred memories with Weeki. Furthermore, your lies open Barbara up to be unnecessarily questioned and attacked! You are sincerely out of line and if you are ethical and have any integrity, you will retract your statement. I would strongly suggest you do that. As I said earlier, Barbara has read yours and Winged Mermaid's statements using her name and she is justifiably upset with these lies.

As a side not to you - Fortunately, Grace appears to be very smart and knows that she must be trained in order to use hoses. But just so you know, our product description is clear on the fact that certification does not come with our air source.

Hi, Just letting you know that it was not Barbara that made the post. It was me. I am best friends with her and a partner in business with her and Allen. Since you said that you were "pretty sure" I want to let you know that you did not hear Barbara tell stories at MerFest. She has never in her 50 years with Weeki told any "horror stories" about the air hoses as Raina said. So not sure where you got your information from but I can attest to this because I was with Barb the entire time at MerFest so I know this to be true. She may have agreed that you must have certification to use them but "horror stories" No. Barbara, myself and her husband Allen are ferociously upset (and that is an understatement) at this. It is our sincere opinion that her name and reputation as a legendary mermaid is being used to solidify yours and Raina's dismay. As I told Raina, this will not be tolerated. So if you must make a point, you must remove Barbara's name from your comments. She wants not part of this and I do not blame her at all! Thank you.

Seriously? Lol. Barb, you got up at the end of my workshop on running a business and spoke to the entire crowd (many of who remember it) about your concerns over mermaid safety and that people are trying things that weeki mermaids do without experience or training. You left an impression on me and several others that made me believe you had genuine concerns about people's safety with air hoses, breath holding, swimming in heavy tails, cold water, and other issues. Perhaps you don't remember it as clearly because it was two years ago, but it left such an impression on me to be aware of safety issues that I even mentioned it in my second book.

I was surprised when I messaged you on the topic that you'd done a 180 on it and are now selling the items after expressing concerns for people's safety before, but after talking to several other mermaids I understand this seems to be a hot button topic with you. I invited you to the thread because I figured as someone experienced with the equipment you could offer some advice. And you're saying "As I told Raina" while claiming you're a friend of Barb's and Allens... but no one but Barb has said anything to me, lol. So why pretend to be someone else? If you want to sell your items that's fine, you don't have to make an account and say it's your friend. Many people sell their stuff on here.

As I said in my PM to you,
If you're bothered by the usage of the words "horror stories" that was the impression you gave me with your statements, and I would have been happy to have changed what i said to make you not feel so upset, but you just dumped terrible personal attacks on me. (for those reading, this is in reference to a PM Barb sent me calling me names and making terrible accusations/assumptions about me. )

I was genuinely under the impression from your impromptu speech at merfest that this was something you were against, especially when I had addressed it in my talk and you specifically told everyone "listen to her, she knows her stuff, she knows what she's talking about and not enough people think about this stuff." to me, that was an endorsement of my stand on safety. And as I said, many of the participants I messaged about the specific issue were under the same impression and were just as shocked as I was that you're selling the air rigs.

If in the course of developing your product you've changed your stance, that's totally fine and your business. However you can't expect people to just 'know' that or not be surprised by it. When I spoke to our mutual peers about it because I thought I may have 'missed something' (it genuinely upset me as you're someone I have always respected- especially because of what you said at merfest) they were also equally surprised to hear you're now selling the items, and they were equally under the impression you were an advocate of safety through not using them or supervised/trained use.

I have zero reason to just make something like that up. I have nothing to gain or lose by expressing my concerns about someone else's safety, and I have nothing to gain by referencing what I believed you to have said. Why would I invite you to participate in a thread if I had lied about you? That makes zero sense.

So if you're saying, there's never been an incident and this is not something you remember talking publicly about, or that you have concerns over, then I apologize because that was the impression you gave me. I'd have never even mentioned you, had you not left an impression on me and many others.

edit: I think it is totally deplorable I am now getting hate messages from you and your friends calling me all sorts of names. I would never do that to another mermaid. While I might argue or disagree with someone on here, I don't rally my friends to call people names in facebook messages. Like, really? All of this because you're mad I said "horror stories"?

yeah I'm going to say after my 8 years of experience as a mermaid, with chronic illness, chronic pain, weakness, and mobility issues, I can carry my 50lbs she creature tail a long damn time without the need of running laps around a pool deck with it lol. There's this thing called the gym people can go to, to safely learn to carrier heavier things longer. Without being screamed at.

also as a side note, your signature says "Love Candida". Is that your real name or mername?

its none of your damn business if its my real or mer name. if you realize I did say she did go over board with the attitude but of course you choose to look over that part like someone with a stick up there rear end. Walking LAPS with your tail helps give you the strength you need to carry your tale a long distance. and NOt everyone likes the gym so stop being such a female dog about it. I hate the guy and I Love to swim to there for I will do my workout with things having to do with swimming. I also said it will be a good thing to add to a fin to fitness program. Do you have dyslexia or something? Where you choose what you wanna see and or hear ?

1. They werent running they were talking.

2. I said it will be a good attition to Fin to fitness program , learning to swim correctly. Which means swimming the RIGHT WAY. Not bending at the knees but actually using your hips and back to allow you to swim. along with exercises. its the same as a Ride to fit program. A real horseback rider will run along side there horse for a work out not go to the gym. It allows you to work along side your partner and get in shape together.

3. Learning how to carry a tail the right way allows you to learn how to carry it with that amount of weight. and dont give me that bullshit about chronic pain. I have chronic pack pain as well and yet you see me haling 50 lb feed bags, 20 lb hay bails, and a 20+ lb saddle. Learning to carry that amount of weight for a long distence or time, allows you to learn the best way to carry it for your body.

4. AS for the other snobby person that remarked to my post it does teach you those things, because it teaches you how you need to judge your own weight and learn to pick things up right. Take a 150 lb person add a 20+ lb tail. I bet you couldnt live that up out of the water to safe your life. Carrying that tail around for long distances allows your back muscles to strengthen allowing it to be EASIER for you to pick that shit up !

Woah let's just calm down a little bit, this escalated quickly. Most likely Raina was just going to compliment you on the name Candida because it's cool. But taking your "claws" out doesn't help. Melissa sees this as the best way to run her training, but other people dont. So everyone can run training their own way, and if you don't like someone's way don't work for them

NOt everyone likes the gym so stop being such a female dog about it

I was being silly, you should probably be reminded as you continue to hurl insults at me and call me names, you can be banned for that. Good to familiarize yourself with the rules. A joke about the gym does not constitute calling me a bitch. I disagreed with your post and found no reason to call you a name.

My dealing with chronic pain and illness is not bullshit thanks. I think you really need to calm down, watch the swearing, and not take things so personally. Not a great way to earn friends on the forum

AS for the other snobby person that remarked

Just because people counteracted your post, doesn't make them snobby. If you find these sorts of back and forths difficult to follow you should probably avoid threads like this in the future. You don't get to just decide people are bitches or snobby because you don't like what they point out, or that they argue your point.

No one called you names, cursed at you, or made personal attacks. So take a step back

Haha it's OK I can take it ;) People tend to resort to name calling when presented with arguments that make them uncomfortable, or if you give them something that contradicts or challenges their view of their idol. In the end they either see your point or they don't. And neither case actually effects my life :p so just keep swimming.

You know what's weird though? I was also disagreeing with them and yet they didn't even mention me, guess they're going for the big dogs to make themselves feel high and mighty? Or do I just freak people out or something?

I'm fairly stunned to have been grouped in with the big dogs.

I LOVE how some people people on this site are ass backwards. it is OK for someone to be blatantly ignorant to me when I post something on a video about doing laps around a pool with your tail is a good idea. but its Not ok for me to stand up for myself and there ignorance about my post? that is seriously Fd up and if the admits remove me from the site because of this post i honestly dont care atm. Being ignorant is just as bad as being a bully or calling someone names.

Disagreeing politely = OK
Disagreeing snarkily = OK (though expect snark back)
calling people "bitch" when you disagree= not OK
accusing someone who disagrees of lying about chronic illness = not OK
disagreeing =/= bullying
calling someone out when they call someone a bitch =/= bullying

And I politely disagree that "ignorant is just as bad as bullying." I also disagree that someone with 8+ years of experience is ignorant. Honestly I think you should just let this go. It's not making you look good.

i says she was being Bichy, i didnt call her a bitch and fyi i said female dog thats totally different, and I could care less if it makes me look good or not. i think its rude to say go to the gym you lazy shit when all i was saying its a good idea to do laps for fitness and warm-up what do you think football players do before a game? what do any sport players do before a game. OH look LAps before a game in there uniform or gear and I never said she didnt have back pain. God you people need to stop seeing things that arent there. I said Saying she cant Do stuff because of pain is crap. If you swim then you clearly dont have that much pain. Swimming takes alot of work moving your pack causing pain. so you cant tell me that walking wouldnt be more work then swimming.

Bitch
[bich]
noun
1.a female dog:
The bitch won first place in the sporting dogs category.
2. a female of canines generally.

I motion we rename this thread the "Female Dog It Out" thread.

Nowhere did I ever say or suggest " i think its rude to say go to the gym you lazy shit" I said going to the gym was a safer way to learn to carry things.

For reference, this is the post she's making these exaggerations about:

yeah I'm going to say after my 8 years of experience as a mermaid, with chronic illness, chronic pain, weakness, and mobility issues, I can carry my 50lbs she creature tail a long damn time without the need of running laps around a pool deck with it lol. There's this thing called the gym people can go to, to safely learn to carrier heavier things longer. Without being screamed at.

also as a side note, your signature says "Love Candida". Is that your real name or mername?

We have a saying In the horse world you could have 20 years of experience but still suck at writing so just because someone has eight years of experience in swimming doesn't mean they know everything. What I was saying in my post was doing laps around the pool with your tail teaches you how to pull your own weight give you a nice warm up before swimming and give you exercise itis the same difference as sports players doing laps around the field in their equipment is no different

Side-eyeing the shit outta this "I called her a female dog, that's totally different!" thing.

Bull. Shit. We all knew EXACTLY what you meant when you called Raina that, don't try and waltz in here and be a smartass about semantics. It's like a bratty thirteen-year-old trying to be clever by calling people a "cigarette" or a "bundle of sticks."

So put that card back in the deck and maybe step away from your keyboard for a bit, PaWaterFish. You were WAY out of line and people responded accordingly. Get over yourself.

you've literally made a good ten posts because of ONE sentence. isn't that such a waste of energy? As my mer-mentor once said, if you put the amount of energy in drama, back into your mermaid life and mermaid company, you will be more successful. Is a joke about the gym really worth alienating members in the community, pissing people off, getting yourself suspended?

Just take a breather. Go have a hot chocolate. Take a walk, or a nap.

PaWaterFish. Cool it. People are allowed to disagree. Training is for the people who do it. It doesn't matter if people agree with your methods provided it works for you. Raina is entitled to her experienced and educated opinion.

Also, calling someone a female dog is NOT a nicer way to word it. Just isn't. It is just as hurtful, and misogynistic and ignorant as calling someone a bitch is.

The word isn't the problem, the sentiment surrounding the word is.

A period joke. Really? Women can have a range of emotions, positive and negative, without being written off as being on their period. It demeans a woman and invalidates how she feels (no matter our perception of things, she still is feeling something) when she is written off in thar manner.

How many times have you been upset and told or asked "Oh you're fine, you're just on your period. / Geez, is Aunt Flo visiting?"
