Any ideas how to take a pic underwater of you and your tail? I've tried and I can't get it.

I was planning on buying a waterproof case/bag for my phone to record myself with a selfie stick, LoL.
Actually, you could use some bubble wrap to float on the surface and cut a tiny hole for the camera lens, so your camera could float above you while you pose. That could look really cool.

It does that with its case on and then I have to swim all weird around the pool. Selfie stick doesn't sound too bad to be honest

Whew, I waded through 164 pages in two nights...

Arion! Hey! I know you posted this in 2015, and I don't know if you're still active on this site, but I noticed on page 104 and 105 that you have a hearing aid in your hand and ear. That got me excited because I wear hearing aids in both ears. I didn't know if I was the only mer with hearing loss on this site. I can't exactly socialize in the pool because hearing aids are little computers that can't get wet (I'd be deaf!), but I can imagine merfolk communicating with sign language while submerged in the water. So nice to meet another mer like me! If you're still active, how do you deal with social situations while swimming?

Guys, I'm currently planning my tail design and its materials. It'll be self-made. I hope, HOPE it will be completed sometime in 2020, but now I'm not so sure after hearing some of you say it took a couple years for your tails. I am very detail-oriented, and I can see many months ahead of me of pouring my soul into this project. It'll be my first tail as a freshwater mermaid. I'll post its completion here. All of your tails are so stunning. I hope to become as lovely as the rest of you!

Sure. One thing to remember is the fluke is not silicone or covered with silicone, but the bare black urethane rubber of the Lunocet flukes. So any color scheme has to blend in with that, or we have to find a way to cover the flukes, or make new ones out of silicone. The current flukes have a aluminum spar inside them.

Wow, that looks great! Usually I don't like tails that have the monofin exposed because it stands out too much, but the color scheme here incorporates the tail very well so it looks natural.

Thanks to the sweet gift of Mermaid Kristy ‘s Mertailer guppy tail, I got to enjoy my own first mermaid excursion, using a year’s worth of yoga exercise to heave myself onto a rock while my wife and kid snapped photos.

Sorta beat myself up trying to haul my wet fishbutt onto the rock, so that’s possibly a reason that newbies learn with starter tail. Lessons, like, it’s hard to swim in a cold-ass river and rocks are way trickier to surmount without human legs. But so worth it, after the kid and wife got bored with snapping photos, I had a time just splashing around in the river like a fool and, damn, it was great.

Also a couple kayakers were shocked to heck to discover a mermaid along their trip.

Oh and its merman. Males are called mermen, not mermaid. Unless, you know, you go a different way...

Thanks! Initially I thought going legs to get up was disingenuous, like, gotta do it all the way mermaid-style for the complete experience. But, yeahhh, not so much from here on out.

I figure “mermaid” is pretty gender neutral, and I would just identify as “mermaid” regardless! <3

Admittedly I do too. I've always thought of "mermaid" as a species instead of a specific gender.

I love seeing everyones creations. Especially the hand made ones as I can appreciate the painstaking effort that goes into them. Here below is a fabric tail I finished recently. The shot of me sitting on the rock was the first look. The second screenshot is after I added some extra paint details and some flowy mesh side fins.
This was a day before a local freediving festival and there was a Mermaid competition with a race and underwater obstacle course, I very proudly got second place in the adult section.
